I'd just like to point out, that while that is an ingame shot, it shouldn't have been released since its an old ingame shot... the arms have changed, along with the hud and stuff

Oh nice, maybe you plan on releasing this mod before Valve comes up with a new engine, but thats probably to much to ask. It's not like other modders have re-modded to source or anything.

OH WAIT!!! They have. As for you news and updates on the sites, yea it's good to know that you don't update it or anything. If you do want to succeed as a modding group and go some where with it i would suggest 5 things.

1. POST SOME NEWS- Keep shit updated so people know whats going on.

2. Finish before it is out dated............

3. Open Testing. Get help from the community that plays the game. Not just your select ten people. You will get more feedback and information the more people are playing.

4. .......

5. Profit.

1. What the hell are you on about, this very thread is a quote of a news entry we just posted on the site.

2. You have no idea at what stage weīre at and whatīs been going on with this mod, so really you have no right to say that, plus, a new engine isnīt made in 2 days, and who cares if it did? Many computers today strugle with source, how many do you think would with a newer engine? which means most likely that even if that where the case, it wouldnīt affect the ammount of people that would play bbs.

3. If you bothered to get informed properly that is a stage, at the moment is internal until we get major bugs out which is pretty much done.

4. Not to original are you?

5. We donīt do this for proffit.

Conclusion, before typing whatever comes to mind, make us all a favour and get informed.

Warned.

really? and what successful mods have you been a part of then?

1. POST SOME NEWS- Keep shit updated so people know whats going on.

news is posted as and when we have something new and interesting to tell you about... if you post the same news over and over, people get bored and lose interest anyway.

2. Finish before it is out dated............

well yeah, thats kinda the plan, but we can only move as fast as the free time that us the developers have, unfortunatly real life comes first, a bunch of us are busy moving atm, and the rest of us have to work, sorry, but thats life, welcome to the real world.

3. Open Testing. Get help from the community that plays the game. Not just your select ten people. You will get more feedback and information the more people are playing.

beta testing is just around the corner, but untill we finish working a few kinks out, theres absolutly no point in it, cause all you guys will get is a half finished product, and all we'll get is whining and bitching in our ears about stuff that we already know needs fixing.

4. .......

wow.. way to go there... run out of thoughts?

5. Profit.

oh wait.. I guess you didnt, anyway, we don't plan on making you guys pay to play this, so it's irrelevant

now grow up and learn some patience.. and if you can't learn some of that, then simply fuck off and go drool over some other mod... seriously, it's people like you that make us developers think, "well actually, all we are catering for is a bunch of retards, so whats the point, i'd rather go play tf2 than do some work on this mod today" and then nothing gets done...

*wanders off to play some tf2 then go to work*

see...

only by 2 mins

the only reason to why the mod is taking so long to be finished is that the developers got lives.

why do you think games and such gets released so fast ?
because the people developing it does it almost 24/7

I'd love to read what khazard posts as his experience with modding, so we can all admire his skills and dedication... Oh wait, actually all he does is sit in front of his computer screen all day, pwning teh n00bs all day on CS and living rent-free with his parents.
Obviously he is far too busy to actually stop and think what the fuck he's doing with his life, other than badger other people to release a mod he doesn't even want to play anyway.

Wise up, fucktard - you're gonna run out of friends real fast unless you grow up and get out.

You know, after Zombie Assassin's constant bullshit-spewing, I was sort of coming around again from my coma (I'm allergic to stupidity) when he left, and was actually starting to develop for the mod again. Oh well, I guess I'll be going back into Crysis for another 2 or 3 hours, and then I'll go and pack. (I'm currently moving).

Really though. I am allergic to stupidity. If it keeps up at this rate, I might die of a fatal stupidity attack type thing. Hell, I'm starting to sound stupid myself.

I think the zombie should look dirtier and bloodier. And the blood in the in-game shot is too bright. Make it dark and look more realistic.

People, khazard was posting critisism and suggestions, even if it's negative, it's still critisism to help improve the mod, even though the post was thoughtless. You can't jump on somebodies back everytime they have an opinion that goes against the majority of this forum.
If you wish to challenge his opinion, do it without major insults or swearing.

The guy is right on a point, you should not choose your testers but should release a beta.We all can't wait until its release so it could be a good idea tho.

but if a free public beta was to be released, then you'll end up with a fanbase of people who are put off by the many minor bugs and glitches present in the mod, and so when the mod is released, it won't be nearly as popular because of this.

You only get one chance to make a first impression, so when it BB:S is released to the general public, it has to http://www.imjinscout.com/images/Be_All_You_Can_Be_POSTER.jpg

Once again, as explained in many threads, game development has testing phases, and one of them is a public release, and as stated before, the game is not ready for the public which does not mean we don't want the public to test.

Posted by: Erykgecko November 05, 2007 12:45 am
personally, i'll be suggesting we do away with a closed public beta, atm we are pushing for a public release, so you'll all get to play it, not just a select few...

having said that, we're not going to do so till we are ready, and also, and I know this will probably fall on deaf ears anyway, but it will be a beta, and that is all.. it;s not a direct port of bbs, it will be lacking a lot of the features we wanna incorporate, it will only have a few of the weapons, and it won't have all of the missions.

what it will have.... is zombies, and it will have gore... the skills system will work to one degree or another, and the weapons that are included, will be coded to perfection... hopefully...

already the game is pretty fun to play, we don't often get the opportunity to jump on the server and have a play test, but when we do, its usually a great time consumer, just like the original was,

so yeah, the beta will most likely be a public release for everyone to play, all im saying is, please dont then turn around and bitch at us about a lack of things that we havent had time to implement properly yet

Thats just input and some of my points are very correct. 500 testers vs 5 testers whats going to bring in result. It's a really simple concept.

Alternate Descriptions of Profit.
1. to gain an advantage or benefit: He profited greatly from his schooling.
2. to take advantage: to profit from the weaknesses of others.
3. to be of service or benefit.
4. to make progress.

Thus, A larger fan base could be a profit. Try to think of other terms before you start flaming certain phrases. It makes people sound uneducated when they do that.

I'm tell you all of this because why? By the time you come out with this people are going to be done with Source why you may ask? Great Question! The CryENGINE2 has show GREAT superiority to the source engine. Why bother with an out dated engine when the newest of engines are going to bring the gamers. Gamers play the newest best thing when it is here, sure we may play some older games but i'm going to be all over Crysis.

And which point I would probably think to myself "well brain bread was fun, but oh well they haven't made any really visible progress. Thats to bad sad.gif "

I tell you what make an Open Beta and watch your fan base grow, the Longer you wait the smaller your fan base will be and the more people will leak out and forget all about BB.

If you're going to be all over The Crysis engine, that's fine. But that doesn't mean the thousands if not millions of people still playing Source engine games are going to. Mods for Half Life 1 are even still popular because they're that good, not because the graphics are outdated by a good amount of years. Look at Counter Strike 1.6.

One of the reasons why the Source engine is popular and will still be popular is because of it's versitality. Not everyone has a powerful computer to run really high-end games like Crysis. Source can play on a lot of different systems. The more kind of computers a game can support, the more will play it simply because not everyone spends money on 1337 computer parts.

As for closed/open beta testing, you are wrong in this case. The first Brainbread started with only a small group of testers before it was released to the public. And guess what? People still play Brainbread. No one has forgotten about it, which is why BB:S is going on in the first place. It is better this way because a more polished version is more enjoyable than one riddled with bugs, and knowing players, they will be picky and get turned off by the game just because of glitches.

You obviously didn't respect anyone here enough to read what the BB:S developers themselves posted on that, and that is why SDW didn't waste his intelligence trying to talk to you. If all you have is bad things to say about the way things are being done, then get the hell out. You think you know more than anyone else here, but that really is not the case. You are contributing nothing but shit, and therefore are useless.

Wow thats a good one, where did you get it from? The book of I'm to lame to think up anything new?

and yet you still didn't actually enlighten us with what experience you do have...

although I have to give you credit, I honestly thought you'd be a one post wonder,

having said that, you obviously didnt actually take the time to sit and read and think about what we developers posted back, especially my last post where I more or less guaranteed that the beta will be open to the entire public rather than closed, so really this is an entirely mute point anyway.

but still, regardless, at the end of the day, nothing will be released to anybody until we feel that its ready to be released, its absolutly pointless to release anything less than a playable and fun mod, unless we have at least 75-80% of what made the original mod great, then whatever we release is going to be a disappointment, and that will cost us more fans than having no beta release at all.

and besides, it's irrelevant what engine a mod is developed for, what matters is how suited the mod is to the engine, crysis is all about huge open spaces and good ai and shit, brainbread quite simply isn't, it's gameplay is best realised on the half life engine, plain and simple, and if your argument had any validity, well, every mod would be fucked before it even began, theres lots of engines coming out all the time, u3's, quake4's, stalkers, bioshocks to name a few, yet the majority of mods still continue on source engine... that alone should be enough to make you stop and think, hell, valve are still working on games for their engine, just look at orange box released only a few weeks ago.. if the bloody developers are still using the engine, then it's nowhere near dead or outdated.

and quite simply, if you don't like it, then you can go jump, if you don't like the way things are run, well.. go make your own mod and release it the way that you want and prove us wrong, but from your comments, i'm pretty sure you've never been a major part of any successful mod, so really you need to shut up and learn a thing or two first.

ignorance is bliss,

not reading posts before replying is just plain stupidity.

Posted by: bacon333 November 05, 2007 01:03 pm
Yes, and CryEngine 2 is a far different engine. It doesn't even use the same .bsp map type that most engines use. And, as stated, Crysis is about open spaces. My computer can barely run Crysis. Crysis, mind you, isn't really that great, imo...

Posted by: mallic November 05, 2007 02:46 pm
meh hl ftw

its the easiest sdk to work with that I (in my minor experience) have looked at. There are MANY tools compatible with all of the functions of the sdk, and valve themselves somewhat support mods

Posted by: SDWBOSS November 05, 2007 03:22 pm
If your exquisitely small mind has processed the information already posted without collapsing in a colossal implosion of ignorance, then listen up.

Firstly, Khazard, I shouldn't have called you names, that was uncalled for, but its people like you who really make me lose my cool. I've tried map designing and mod coding, and I can tell you it is NOT as easy as it looks - you can work for six months straight and get nothing but some simple textured models and waypoints for your effort, so before you spout off yet another ludicrous concoction of ill-informed release structures and nieve business strategies, take a minute to think what it takes to release such a successful mod such as BrainBread - these guys know what they're doing.

Posted by: Keyes November 05, 2007 04:36 pm

lol and I said I would never poke my head above the parapet again for fear of getting flamed again.

I just want to remind people that when the mod is released that you are going to get a LOT of "noobs" asking the same old questions and saying the same old stupid things or having what "oldies" consider stupid opinions.

Just chill out a bit and view this calm period before the deluge as practise to hone your skills at dealing with newcomers.

I can imagine that a lot of people could possibly be put off, if not the mod, then at least coming on to the forums and joining the community.

You don't want to be known as the "Great Mod But Unwelcoming Community" crew, do you?

So, go ahead and flame me too (again) but I really needed to voice my concerns (again) at the treatment people are being dealt.

Back on topic, the media really does look fantastic and it's evident that a LOT of love and hard work has gone into making it. Keep it up and well done, guys.

I've never come across you before, DancingFred, so greetings from me.
But in all honesty, Khazard's posts are simply unfounded and immature. He doesn't even have the intelligence to respond to all the points put to him by other members.

When the mod is released, we will have to have stricter crack-downs on flame posts.

I acknowledge what you mean. And I'm sorry for any past transgressions. I've read your previous posts and they don't seem like the kind that would insight flaming.

Anyway, we as a community of oldies and such have grown accustomed to our own kind in such a way that we hate when new people as dumb questions. But you're right, we do have to get used to it, and I'm pretty sure we will. New people will come with bad stuff but we're going to have to deal with it nicely at first so as to not drive them away.

However, there are exceptions as you have to realize, like khazard. Things that he said I simply cannot tolerate and it's new members like him that will get shot down from the sky. Not others who are a little more innocent (which trust me there will be more of).

All that aside, lets all get back to the topic at hand. I personally congradulate the team for an excellent job thus far. I only repost these tidbits so everyone is kept up to date (yes, I check the BB:S website THAT often happy.gif ).

Ok, now back to work you Devs. *cracks whip* tongue.gif

"greetings from me"

Back atcha.

"I've read your previous posts and they don't seem like the kind that would insight flaming."

Um... sometimes other people's flaming comments have been deleted from the forums. Things have been er.. tidied up a bit. Gawd, I sound like Fox Mulder and his conspiracy therories lol.
Anyway, that's why you don't hear a lot from me.
But look at how long I've been a member, just because I don't post very often doesn't mean that I don't read the forum.

Imagine how most people in this thread would feel and react if I started calling them 'noobies". It's really quite insulting and derogatory. We were ALL 'noobies' at one time and most of us needed help when we first started.

Ok, khazard could've worded his post a little more subtly but look past that and see if he had some good points.

Personally, I feel that if the mod was released as a slightly buggy beta it WOULDN'T put people off the mod at all. I believe it would increase the interest in the mod and reduce the possibility of a "us and them" hierarchy developing.

Again, not trying to start a fight here at all. Just trying to help.

Uh... why would that start a fight? Cumon, DancingFred - we aren't going to travel thousands of miles to come and break your legs just because someone disagrees with a post you make! tongue.gif

Nobody should be "nannied" and made excuses for - everyone is held accountable for their actions here, whether good or bad.

Alright, well, I thought it might be a good idea to give khazard another chance... since I'm in a good mood today. Otherwise I wouldn't have thought of this. However, if he fucks up again, I think we could consider it a 'BAN ME' post.

Let it all be a reminder to you guys that flaming sucks ass.
It ruins a lot of things for us... sad.gif

So we should all keep in mind that there is peace on earth. smile.gif

Bullshit. Hey, try not to go overboard here... peace.. pfft...

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! Please either stop posting in here or get back on topic with the media release GOD DAMN!

Any posts that are no longer on topic will be deleted. Keep on topic.

khazard,

Stop with the know it all act, your suggestions are selfish in the way they benefit you mainly. We wish to develop a game that's reaching it's full potential, which is why a hand few of people were chosen to be beta testers, not so they can prematurely enjoy brainbread, but to help develop it. I lost interest in the other stuff you said, anything more from here, take it to private messasing.

That AK's an incarnation of gorgeousness.

Seriously though, i'm glad to see that it's coming along; i thought that it would be completely dead, but it's not, and the time i wasted - perhaps - won't be completely wasted.

Well, you exert a force on a mass, it moves in that direction.
So if you shoot a zombie with an RPG from 10 feet, it's gonna go backwards ohmy.gif

The Zombie wasn't actually flying. Trick of the eye.

To be truthfully honest, that picture was one of our worse pictures to showcase to you guys, but it happened, and the only thing we can do is improve things now, so you guys can benefit from later.
