This usually only happens if your running a server.

If this is happening on your client try one or all of the following:
- Add the command "-heapsize X" (without the quotations)into your shortcut command line, where X is the half the number of your total RAM in KB. I.E. if you have 512 mb of Ram, type a number in the 256 mb range: "-heapsize 256128"
you can get to the command line by right-clicking properties on the icon.

- Run BB at high priority
hit ctrl+alt+del, select "processes" tab, select hl.exe, right-click, set-priority, high.

- Close ALL background programs
hit ctrl+alt+del and close any programs/processes that are not necessary

- Lower graphical settings in game.

I have the same problem but the shortcut command line doesn't pop up when I right-click on properties.

Don't right-click the icon in your Steam "Games" Menu. Use a windows shortcut instead, should be on your desktop after you install, if not:
desktop --> right-click --> new --> shortcut --> type in the address to your steam.exe, hit okay.

Then add the following parameters in the target line:
-applaunch 70 -game brainbread -(any other command-line parameter you want to add)

so the target box would look somehting like this:
"C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 70 -game brainbread -32bpp -heapzise 256126
