Hopefully this is the right place to ask....
Will the zombies have the same AI programming and behaviour as in the original Brainbread? Cheers |

Intially the zombies should have the same AI as the standard HL2 classic zombie.
Later we are planning to strip down alot of the functionality of the AI and replace it with some simple swarming code. This is alot harder than it sounds so please bare with us. cheers -------------------- ...and they will show you how, to make the future look a bit victorian aged and how to spread your geekness, proudly, not ashamed...

The basic hl2 zombie behaviour is fine, like in night of a million zombies. The only thing that that slightly spoils BB zombies is their inability to walk up slopes! Imagine notd house level if the zombs could actually follow you up the slopes to where the guns are!
So hopefully slope walking is in? Does it depend on the gradient or something? And we are patient, just excited, like puppies. Oh and thanks for the reply. |

Yea, I mean, even in hl1 bb, Zombies could go up slopes. It just depends on the degrees of the slope. I know =x. It's like a 45 degree slope or less. -------------------- |

Huh? Where are we going? I'm totally out of the loop right now. XD Oh and, and about slopes, you make no sense at all. Zombies in BB go up slopes easy, it all depends on how steep the damn thing is. If they cant go up the slope, we players probably can't either. I think you mean to say how it's easy to fight zombies when players can camp on top of objects zombies can't get to. |

No, I did mean that they don't seem to follow you up slopes very well. I was specifically thinking of the slopes (instead of stairs) in the "night of the living dead house" level, the one with the doors you can barricade. They just hang around ignoring you rather than shambling up the slope to eat your brains. That's why I wondered if it was the gradient that stopped them. Or do you have to set paths for them like bots? Dunno.
But yes, it was the fact that people were just camping up the slope and just shooting. It made me think what a tense level it could be if they followed you up to where the guns are; tactical retreats, insurmountable odds against overwhelming numbers of zombies, the odd bit of player heroism. That sort of thing. |
