I did a search and didn't find any mention of the word 'r-speeds' on the forum, but since half of the forum is german thats probably part of the reason.

Now I've been mapping for years and from what I've seen so have some of your mappers as well since there's some very impressive work here. But there is a difference between being a good mapper and being good while working within a rendering budget. Obviously I'm trying to understand what you're aiming for since it helps to better judge the quality of a mod when you're comparring them ( NS would be the closest comparrason as it's also mutliplayer and fairly recent ) so while 90% of the community can be won over with anything cause they dont understand the technicalities I unfortunatly fall into the other 10% who like to talk tech with the developers.

So i have to ask, what kind of r-speeds are you aiming for in these maps cause i can see right off the bat that it's not anything between the 600-800 range expected from most multiplayer HL games.

Also, considering the higher r-speeds are you using the modfied Zoner's tools developed by Merl and company over at the VERC or is it something custom build? I'm sure if not then you'd be interesting the null textures to removed faces that might be rendered when they aren't needed as well as the the semi-opaque shadows that were also recently developed. (very handy for glass surfaces as you can change the colour of the shadow and such)

@Tal-N: Greetings!
First i want to say that we talked about that in the german developerpart of the forums... and sorry, but you´re wrong: The r_speeds are between 600 and 800 for general high-r_speed-areas (in all maps). In most areas they´re below 700, even if it seems that they´re high. Sometimes they´re a bit higher than 800, but nothing critical. We also talked with valve about that and they agree with us that the 5 years old r_speed-"limit" of 600/700 is outdated even if the r_speeds in maps like osaka are below 700.

//Edit: And yes, i´m using the special Zoner´s tools.

PS: btw i´m the only mapper here, so thx very much. biggrin.gif
