I was just on the receiving end of a brainwave...
After picking myself back up off the floor, I thought I should share with you what seems so obviously entertaining.

What about, aswell as the firearms found in BrainBread, there were weapons such as bows and crossbows?

I know shooting arrows may not seem as exiting as bullets, but I think it could make for very interesting gameplay, rendering arrows/bolts with the source engine - similar to how the crossbow works in Half-Life 2.

Here are my proposed weapons (merely general ideas):

Low accuracy, low arrow speed, low damage

Medium accuracy, medium arrow speed, medium damage.

High accuracy, high arrow speed, high damage.

Highest accuracy, Highest bolt speed, highest damage, can take out several zombies in a line.

What do you guys think?

I'm not so sure if I am feeling this idea. I wouldn't mind it if there was a medevil themed map, but other than that, no thank you.

It's a pretty nifty idea. I don't like your weapon stats though.

This would do as Skins, but the weapons sound a bit outta-the-game.

Maybe, add them in like, a Modern Woods map, where you spawn into a cabin and there's only bows and other hunting-related weapons in there.

Dude, I think this is the wrong area. You should've posted this in the BB:S Section.

But, who cares? Doesnt really matter.

And, there would be one problem with the bow: Reloading. Crossbow doesnt sound like a bad idea at all. But, its up to the developers on whether or not they do that.

Anyway, It sounds like a great idea, though the guns are more accurate. But i guess, from the first post, it doesnt matter.

I think its great to add more challenge to the game, what with everything, maybe even abit overwhelming. But, sounds great, so i hope we have it put in.

Also, keep your cool.gif , betatesters! We dont want to tire you.

I agree having all the bows would make the game somewhat boring - but you surely must admit, the compound would look very cool in-game...

That's what I was thinking about.. modern bows.
the old Style bows look too boring, and the modern ones look like awesome killing machines. biggrin.gif

It would work the same way the crossbow did for HL2, it nailed any enemy that's near a wall. That was so damn awesome.

By the way, don't want to be mean but you posted this is in the wrong forum. xD

On topic, well I think the bow is a good alternative. Lets say you're in a map that doesn't have too many guns but has a Hunter's Shop that was a shitload of bows. Well anything works right?

i think that that zombie mod that is in creation uses the works of bows and such.
whats it name,,,,, " no more room in hell " might just be gibber gabber but who knows..
it would be pretty good but ,, if the stat system would be in use,, then it would not be as efficient as it should be without training in weapon skill.:

you are not a master marksman the first time you use a bow...

An excellant oportunity for weapon skill to be implemented - say, you can build up a total weapon skill bar by using different weapons.

For example, a newbie could pick up a bow/crossbow for the first time no problem, but would be unable to hit anything with it as he has no control.

A veteran who had used the bow for some time would be able to take off a zombie's head at 200 yards smile.gif

right that might be abit overkill ,,
but yeah with high skill with bow then you got basicly a weapon that never goes empty of ammo..

except if you go noob and camp on a roof and shoot zombies that are on the ground level

What would you stick in those holes?

The arrows would go right through the zombies like a hot knife through butter, they can already go through living human flesh like a knife through butter

I think crossbow looks better on BB biggrin.gif
