I already know there is a barricade system, thanks to Firehawk, but i have a interesting idea that could be implemented. I was thinking however for Survival Mode, Barricading works differently, and requires teammate cooperation to barricade.


There would a plank item, the player would hold up the plank to the doorway, while the other teammates weld them on. I feel as though this is too much work and would work better on a different engine, but it sounds like a great way to customise the way you use barricades, to make it easier i was thinking using right mouse click with the fists, picks up items and objects, and using that. you wouldn't have to use some weird weapon to weld.


Firehawk also came up a idea for a animation to push wood and objects towards a wall and using voice commands to order your teammates to nail the wood and objects to the walls, blocking off zombie passage. He also suggested we added another animation for the actual door welding.

Of course adding this system will take time, so i propose a vote to see if you guys like it and hopefully it will help the mod devs help decide whether to put it in or not.

I vote yes, for one as i think its a excellent idea.

It's a very nice idea however if there is only 1 player on the server this system would be useless. I would keep it a 1 player job... I would also recommend that this idea be implemented into the game after we release to the public.

Logically its a game play mechanic that doesn't work out very well in video games.
Seriously name one Retail ((Store Bought)) Non-mod videogame that this feature appears in that was a successful game. And no CoD doesn't count only games that are purely zombie oriented.

Ahem, Zombie Panic Source? Barricades? They are a major resource to the game, keeping the zombies at bay, They even allow you to change what angle you can nail a plank to a wall.

However this system is a more complex,You would have to do the following,

Define the amount of damage until broken.

How many shots in a weld/nail gun, and how fast it will take to weld/nail.

Figure out a simple solution for Solo Play.

Choose which items can be welded and which cannot. (Tables,Planks ect ect.)

And unlike Zombie Panic Source, you can actually choose a multiple of items to nail/weld,which i believe will be quite a attractive option.

I also think the Nail/Weld gun should be a weapon you can actually kill zombies with, so if your friend is surrounded by zombies, you could simply stick the zombie to the wall, of course if its a seperate limb other than the torso, that gets stuck to the wall.


But, i agree strongly that we should put this idea underwraps until ZPS is released and possibly release it in a update.

Half of this stuff can be done in the editor like 90% of it just aslong as the coding side gives the mapper something in the FGD to work with.

solo play: you get your tool gun (extra slot in the weapons hud) the tool gun will look like a hammer or something. now, you can ONLY equip the tool gun if you have some planks, just wood ETC in your inventory. then you will get the plank, just wood ETC in your LEFT (or right) hand and you press mouse button 1 (fire button) then there will be an animate that you hold the plank to the wall (like a door edge) and then press the mouse button 2 to attach the nails.

now you might think this will take to long but its just, click the tool weapon>click fire button,click right button. 5 seconds. done.. smile.gif
