Ancient Domains of Mystery (ADOM for short) is a roguelike game which means that it is a single-user game featuring the exploration of a dungeon complex (and in the case of ADOM a few other games of this genre: the exploration of a large wilderness area with villages and many special locations). You control a fictional character described by race, class, attributes, skills, and equipment. This fictional character is trying to achieve a specific goal and succeed in a difficult quest. To fulfill the quest, you have to explore previously undiscovered tunnels and dungeons, fight hideous monsters, uncover long forgotten secrets, and find treasures of all kind.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is a Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter. It's a team game; you will win or fall along with your comrades. The only way to complete the objectives that lead to victory is by cooperation, with each player covering their teammates and using their class special abilities in concert with the others.

Featuring multiplayer support for as many as 64 players, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory challenges gamers to the ultimate test of teamwork and strategy. Each of the five character classes is critical to a team's ultimate victory or defeat on the battlefield. The Covert Operative class allows players to steal uniforms, perform reconnaissance and gain access to enemy positions. While, the Engineer allows the Axis and Allied teams to lay and diffuse mines as well as build battlefield bridges, towers, forward command bases and other improvements in the midst of combat to gain advantages for their team.

Iter Vehemens ad Necem (or IVAN, for short) is a graphical rogue-like that is simple enough for the casual gamer to play, but has even more depth than most of the others. Don't let the confusing name fool you, this is a game that rivals that of Nethack in the sheer joy of playing it. . All of your body parts can be severed off, and it all drastically effects how your player works. If one of your legs is severed off, your encumbrance is severely reduced, and your movements are slowed. If you lose both legs... well, your only hope is to pray to your most appreciative god in hopes he will give you a couple of iron legs, or else you'll be laying on the floor until you starve or are killed by the unforgiving amount of creatures about (or you could use an amulet of life saving, but those are extremely rare).

N has been described as reminiscent of lode runner -- you're a little dude running around in a puzzle-y world inhabited by enemies. But in N, there's a twist: the ninja is driven not only by a thirst for gold, but also by a physics simulation. Death, which happens often, is quite animated.

This game simulates car racing on more or less circular tracks. The cars are either human or computer controlled which you select in the game menu. Although it initially resembles the Micro Machines games, GeneRally is rather more complicated to play, due to the range of options available. The game includes a track editor, and with some knowledge of 3d modelling, it is also possible to create new vehicles for the game.

Your mission is to collect all fruits (and other goodies) from the scene and to avoid enemies at the same time. The "scene" is an 10x10x10 area constructed from different cubes. The cubes are floating in air, surrounded by strange atmospheres. You jump from a cube to cube and try to stay healthy during this...er.."jumping session"..

5 Days A Stranger is a medium lenght, horror themed adventure game. Little of the story: Get in, get the loot, get out... that's how it usually goes for master cat burglar Trilby. But after he breaks into the supposedly vacated country manor erstwhile of the aristocratic DeFoe family, he quickly finds that things are not that simple. Together with a group of strangers, he finds himself imprisoned by some invisible intelligence. A force prepared to do anything to keep them there. Up to and including murder...

As the killings begin and suspicion threatens to tear the group apart, it's up to Trilby to unite his squabbling companions and destroy the supernatural entity that victimises them. But what exactly is it? What is the dark secret attached to DeFoe Manor? And what is the significance of the masked maniac who haunts their dreams?

This is a great game, very scary at times: I got more scared playing this than when i played Doom 3!

http://ufo2000.sourceforge.net/

[NEEDS X-COM TO PLAY (Which you can find by googling it, Home Of The Underdogs is a good bet)]

UFO2000 is free and opensource remake of tactical part of 'X-COM: UFO Defense' game. It currently has no geoscape and economics, but it has the feature many X-COM fans dreamed for - multiplayer support

You need data files from the original X-COM to play UFO2000. The game can also work with data files from X-COM demo (microprose ftp is currently down, mirror of this file is here), but you will be only able to play on 'City' map and use a limited set of units in this case. So having a full version of X-COM is highly recommended.

NetHack is a single player dungeon exploration game that runs on a wide variety of computer systems, with a variety of graphical and text interfaces all using the same game engine. Unlike many other Dungeons & Dragons-inspired games, the emphasis in NetHack is on discovering the detail of the dungeon and not simply killing everything in sight - in fact, killing everything in sight is a good way to die quickly. Each game presents a different landscape - the random number generator provides an essentially unlimited number of variations of the dungeon and its denizens to be discovered by the player in one of a number of characters: you can pick your race, your role, and your gender.

http://www.nexuiz.com/

Nexuiz has been in development for 3.5 years by a team of amateur developers lead by Lee Vermeulen. It is a 3d deathmatch game made entirely over the internet. The purpose of the game is to bring deathmatch back to the basics, with perfect weapon balancing and fast paced action, keeping itself away from the current trend of realistic shooters. It uses HFX textures by Evil Lair, and currently has 17 maps to frag in. With an advanced UI, the user can select between 15 different player models to use, with an average of two skins for each, and can connect to our master server to play people from all over the world.

New game :

Allegiance

"It's almost impossible to figure out where to start raving about the gameplay in Allegiance. That's how good it is. " -- Firing Squad

Allegiance is a team-oriented online multiplayer space combat simulation with real-time strategy (RTS) elements. It could be described as a much-improved "X-Wing vs. Tie-Fighter." Whereas most multiplayer online games have a very simplistic concept of teamwork, if any, Allegiance distinguishes itself by having a strategy interface that demands teamwork in order to accomplish anything. Despite all these advancements, Allegiance still works great on a Pentium 2 computer with a 56k modem.

kaBUMP!

But it is a sticky, so therefore it is okay. I hope.

I've just downloaded a game called facade. It's a one-act interactive...um, theatre performance, perhaps. Basically you're a friend invited to a couple, and pretty fast they end up shouting at each other. You can write responses and walk around in their apartment, and the AI is pretty good. You can be dead serious and try saving their marriage, or you could impersonate a pirate and see how fast you can get thrown out.

here's a linky to the site. It's 100 percent free smile.gif http://www.interactivestory.net/

This sounds interesting.... very very.

I always wanted to know how the forum would be if that guy's still active. Perhaps a little more random?
