well, I was on the main page and I noticed the FGD or whatever for mapping. I am very interested in mapping and would like to give it a try. Unfortuanatly I know nothing.... if someone could help me out step by step I would appreciate it. I'll post the questions I have here. First off, wtf do I do with the FGD and should I get any tools first?

I hear u dont need SDk so I'm using hammer. How do I put the fgd into hammer, I'm so dumb...god I dont know naything!

ok, I fixed the couldnt find dll problem. Now it cant find my map. When I save it, it says it cant find it. what format should it be in and where should I save it?

just go to google and type in Hammer or SDK Mapping Tutorial... and you'll be set. Mapping is pretty much the same for every game, I use to map for Jedi Outcast... and when I tried Hammer it was all pretty simple since it's almost exactly alike. Just find a tutorial ( one with pictures usally helps for a first timer
 ) and you'll be set. Don't over do it though... you're going to want to make maps like the devs... and it's not going to happen (I know the feeling  ) Just take your time, and stick to forums for when you get stuck on something. (Perhaps a Steam forums that's just for SDK? And not this forum  ) Good luck... and thanks for editing your posts hehe  --------------------  And when you kill a man...You're a murderer. You are using Valve Hammer with the non-Steam HL1 aren't you? Because if you aren't, it won't work. The maps should be compiled in the Valve\maps folder so that you can run them.

Please help ME anyone!!
 I mapped for CS 1.5 before, and i successfully made 2 cs maps, now I am trying to map for BB, with steam and hammer all setup for bb, Now where do i find the BB textures?? because there is only 2 wads in the BB folder (tempdecal.wad and decal.wad) Where do i Find the other .wad so i can add them into hammer. |
