Night Incursion - WIP

This map will be released in two versions as I can finished them. The first one is the LMS version. The LMS version will be roughly 1/2 the playable size of the BB version as it will only include the outside area (tentative). The BB version will have gates or some form of road blocks (I might make it so that they roadblocks can be cleared), but you will be required to venture into the buildings to find your way to the map exit point. I'm planning on making the outside areas fairly dark with most of the lighting situated near areas held by the marines. I'm hoping to have timed flares light up the map for short periods of time, but that depends on how it all works out once I finish mapping the outside sections.

So... very dark, tons of zombies roaming about, ammo, health, guns, and lighting concentrated around areas held by marines... did I mention LOTS of zombies? ph34r.gif

Well, when there are no flares up, it definitely (to me at least) feels more like a facility-infested map. There could be 15 zombies wandering around, but you only see maybe 4 or 5. Once the flare(s) go up and a huge section of the outdoor area gets lit up, it changes to the infested city street atmosphere; fairly open areas and lots of zombies. Though, large sections will still be very dark outside of the areas lit by the flare(s).

When the lights go out though, hopefully flashlights are enabled on the server or hopefully you can get to a lit area before too many zombies get a little too close for comfort. Open area or not, them pesky zombies can still manage to corner you.. especially when you can't see them too well... ph34r.gif

The BB version should be a little bit of everything. From the screenshot and video, the corrugated metal building and the large brick building (with windows at the top level) will be explorable. I plan on mapping plenty of dimly lit sections, but they'll most likely be much brighter than the outdoor areas.

The flare had to be changed, I finally traced down a bug that would cause the game to crash or for the game to lag out (you'd get stuck in place) due to the env_shooter... something along the lines of "too many entities in visible packet" or something like that.. I guess the sprites DON'T get destroyed when they disappear... blarg!

Due to the class I'm taking, I don't have much time to work on maps, but, I AM still working on this map.

Hmm... got the train area mapped out... finally, I think I'm going to put the more powerful weapons in this area and make the player wade through zombies to get at them. ph34r.gif
