That's okay. As long as it flows with the story-line, I don't care how you write it. Thanks a lot for taking up the job, keyes! (I didn't think i'd get any writers to help me out.) I really appreciate it, and i'm looking forward to reading the next page of my story biggrin.gif

Right, I've got the next installment of the story sorted. Just gonna point something out here: it's written in British English, so trousers = pants, mobile phone = cell phone, and so on.

Anyways, enough talkin'. Here it is.

**************

The hell was that? I murmured to myself, taking up my bat.

The sound had obviously come from upstairs, but I wasnt too keen on going to investigate. It could be a zombie; it could be a looter. Neither prospect appealed to me. I shrugged, and continued with the search for a can opener.

The floorboards creaked again as I slipped a can opener into my bag. I hoisted it onto my back and took my baseball bat in both hands. I cant believe Im doing this, I thought, as I crept towards the stairs.

Upstairs was equally as ransacked as the lower floors. Whoever had been here had been desperate. As I looked into a bedroom, I noted that even the mattresses had been taken off the beds. I shook my head, and continued looking for the source of the creaking.

The door next to me suddenly exploded outwards in a shower of wood splinters. I swung instinctively with my bat at the zombie that leapt out at me, but it collided with me too quickly and I was knocked to the ground.

I wrestled with the zombie, the only thing separating us the baseball bat. I had to lean as far back into the floor as possible, as the zombie kept trying to bite my face. Getoff! I grunted, pushing the bat up at the zombie with all my strength.

I tried to shift my position so that I could throw him off, but he was too heavy and the smell emanating from him was starting to make me feel ill. In an act of desperation, I head-butted the zombie and rolled away from it as it moaned in pain.

As I stumbled to my feet, I reached round and drew the Beretta. I wasnt sure if the sound of gunfire would draw more zombies to my location, but right now, the dead old man that had initiated the fight was blocking my only escape. Back off! I said, flicking the safety off.

The zombie charged at me. I took aim briefly, and squeezed the trigger.

Click.

Shit!

There wasnt a bullet chambered, and the zombie was under a metre away. I swung with the hand holding the pistol, and slammed it into the dead mans temple. Its eyes rolled into the back of its head, and it fell to the floor.

I wiped the sweat off my forehead, and put the pistol back down the waistband of my trousers. Whoa, I murmured to myself, retrieving my bat.

There was a moan from outside. Oh, God, I said to myself, looking around. There was nothing left in the house for me to take. I thought of taking another mobile phone for me to call Daniel, but decided that if there ever was a mobile phone here, it would have been looted by now.

I made my way downstairs, and went outside. There was the car crash right in front of me, and no vehicles I could use in sight. Damnit, I thought. How am I going to get to Daniel?

My answer was sitting in a garage. The third garage I checked, to be precise. There was a KMX-125 dirt bike, chained up with a large padlock holding it together. I had only the vaguest of knowledge on how to work a motorbike, and it wasnt really my ideal vehicle, but it was the only one around, and the sounds of the undead were closing in. I looked around, and found the key for the bike on a worktable, but couldnt find anything to unlock the padlock. It took me a minute to think of a solution.

Blam. The lock came off in one shot. I put my pistol back, and got on the bike.

I saw a zombie stumble over to the car crash, and decided that now was the time to leave. I kick-started the bike, and rode away as fast as possible.
