Ok. To get a better idea of what kind of performance/quality to aim for, I would like to know what kind of systems you guys are running. I feel that the mod community may have a different set up than what is portrayed in the valve survey. This is also to find out how much detail we could put into maps without having the game run badly on your systems.

So, first of all, I would like to ask you to first:

So, first off, go to:

Start > Run

And type:
CODE
dxdiag

And enter the information under the "system" tab in this format:

Operating system:
Processor:
Memory:

Now, go into the "display" tab and enter in this format in a post:

Chip Type:
Aprox. Total memory:
Current Display mode:

We also need to know some misc information:

What year the computer was bought:
What FPS you would feel comfortable playing the game at:
Average FPS in CSS Stress Test:

When you post the form, it should look like this:

CODE

SYSTEM INFO:

Operating system:
Processor:
Memory:

DISPLAY INFO:

Chip Type:
Aprox. Total memory:
Current Display mode:

MISC INFO:

Year system was bought:
Comfortable FPS:
Average FPS in CSS Stress Test:

Thank you.

EDIT: Oh, and if you can't fill something out, just type: "N/A". Anything is better than nothing, and every post we get will help us out greatly.

I doubt my setup compares to the systems most people will be playing this game with, but here ya go anyway...

SYSTEM INFO:
Operating system: Windows Vista Home Premium x64 (6.0 Build 6000)

Memory: 8190 MB RAM

DISPLAY INFO:

MISC INFO:
Year system was bought: Custom built September 2007
Comfortable FPS: Anything above 30 fps is easy on the eyes

As long as you post your system specs, it's good. The idea is to find out what people have, and then optimize it for the best possible gameplay for everyone.

@Civ, do you know what type of RADEON card you have? (specific number would be nice :/ )

@Luciel, Yeah, it's too powerful for gaming. I decided to use this computer for gaming and keep the other one seperate. Last time I put a game on the P3, the game simply exploded with 200 fps and fried.

Anyway, thanks guys. More people that post the better.

Oh, yeah, and Stress test is rather important (at least for me) as I will be able to easily calculate the difference in the fps I get, and what you guys get, so I can test maps accordingly...

Anyway, thanks guys, keep it coming.

Post up. The whole idea is to get as many people's specs so I can optimize the map to work with it. (i.e. as much detail as I can afford in the maps while maintaining a good fps on the worst computer.) Even if you doubt anyone has a computer as bad as yours, it's still good to have that range. (people will have bad computers...)

Similar to Luciel's I think *knowing wink wink.gif*

SYSTEM INFO:

Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP SP2 (X86)
Processor: AMD Athlon X2 6000+ @ 3.0 GHZ
Memory: 4096MB DDR 800

DISPLAY INFO:

Chip Type: Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS 320
Aprox. Total memory: 320MB
Current Display mode: 1280x1024 @ 75Hz

MISC INFO:

Year system was bought: Various, from a few months ago to 2 years ago.
Comfortable FPS: 60+
Average FPS in CSS Stress Test: 74.5 (vsync max)

@ Andrew - what a system! It's what mine wants to be when it grows up wink.gif
But why do you limit it to 60Hz?
*edit* And how could you get 125fps with everything maxed out?; That would limit it to 60 wink.gif
