I'd love to be a betatester as well, but I don't have a computer to run any PC games on right now. I'll let you guys know, though.

I sent in a rushed non-formal app a few days ago about level design(I did a fair amount of level design a few years ago, and was working with source for a CS:S map. But I eventually scraped it because I lost the save file when upgrading computers >_<) (Also have very limited modeling experience, but I've done some stuff), but I didn't get a response. Oh well, if anything, I was also a beta/alpha tester originally, and would like to still do that if possible.

It is done. And I do implore you to hire the old beta testers. We heavily tested the old alpha of BB:S all those years ago. If only the forum itself was still visible, you would see our dedication to the project. I think I speak for all the beta testers who have replied to your BB:S threads when I say that we will not only match that dedication, but exceed it.

I was a beta tester as well, but I sent in an app a little bit back when the thread first sprung up, and it seemed like I wasn't accepted, but wasn't 100% clear =3.

I've been trying to re-learn modelling so I can help in that department, but I do much better in the level design =3.

I don't really know much, other then the fact he knows the Source engine as much as Valve knows it. He definitely knows alot of coding, but I don't know about the other parts.



EDIT: Apparently, he uses a Mac, and therefore can't compile Windows code. So I don't really know if he can be of any use.

I loved the original BB, and would love to see BB:S made! I'm very busy with uni atm so cant dedicate the time to learn the source engine, but come semester breaks id love to contribute to the mod with code if i could. I'm quite comfortable with c++ and a bit of shader programming (openGL/CG). Any chance of the mod being made open source for people to peruse and possibly work on, like, with a TODO list perhaps?

I think the AI and weapons, code in a fgd file so it can be used in hammer, althought i dont know where Ramlapa(also lead) is working on.

i ask him to reply here what exactly needs to be done

I am currently "learning" the ins and outs of mapping for source... as in... just started tonight... blink.gif

But.. here's ~45mins worth of messing around with QuArK and source:

Source, for being so similar to the original, is still so much different. Knowing the original helps, but it's almost completely different at the same time.

Yes it is. I wonder how long it'll take to finish a section for a HL2 based map..


EDIT: Cliff walls are MUCH easier to map now. laugh.gif

Displacements make life sooo much easier for outdoors/high detail.

The input/output system took a while to get used to as well.

Well, I wouldn't use the word better, more like different. I prefer it because it is what I started mapping with back in the '90s (Quake 1). The interface was also closer to the CAD software I was using around that time (as apposed to the WorldCraft interface).

It is more complicated mainly because it supports many different game engines/games/mods than Hammer probably does. Also, getting at the game resources for STEAM games tucked away in the .GCF files didn't help when Valve ditched having game resources sitting out in the open on your HD.

EDIT: Yeeeaahhhh..... it took me about 30mins to an hour to get a simple button/door combo to work... it seems that HL2 requires a verb to go with the targetname... in my case "toggle". Problem is, in Hammer this is done through menus.. in QuArK... had to look up the format. ph34r.gif

i moved to nmrih after the mod died a few years ago.

Speakin' o' betatesting, my brother's computer ain't good to go yet because of his inability to get a new wireless router. So if Beta-testing is going on and I'm still not present, you're welcome to drop me and replace me with another dude. The computer I'm typing this message is incapable of running Source-based games because it's already very run down.... as long as my parents see this computer die in a violent way, they will be able to replace it. smile.gif

I made several weapons for this, that rifle with wooden parts, forgot what it was called, m16 which has 1/2 finished textures, uzi, sawned off and revolver, maybe something more I cant remember. I also made some props but I dont have them any more and I made the only fully custom zombie model we had, the mime guy or anything else was just reskin of hl2 citizen. I also made human first person hands which are pretty good imo, I can give you the files but dont you continue the old version we left with in that case you should already have most of those assets as they where put ingame more or less? Or you just dont have the source files?

The old version is not playable. it takes literally 10 minutes to load a map (if you are lucky)
all the other times.. it will crash.
if you would be so kind YES, i would love to recive the models you made, (maybe you could even improve something about the weapons biggrin.gif.

i can let them re-animate and probably get them coded in our build.
i also need to know who made the HUD. i found some INTERESTING stuff while searching in the old mod build which aren't even used in-game.

i would also recieve the zombie model.

and now. Could you help us with the mod again? we have such nice new weapons (ak-47, revolver, benelli shotgun, and a new axe.) but the problem is... we dont have a texture artist for it to make textures of the weapons...

so the progress is very little because of that. (if you could make some texture we can finally bring hope in the fans. they will be suprised AND the progress will be alot better (then we come near the beta version

I don't suppose that by "some knowledge on any of these" you mean knowing how to do "Hello world, I'am a C++ program" on C++, do you? Either way, I just wanted to say thanks.
Thanks for reviving this mod which has me playing the original Brainbread up to this day.
If I can help in anything, feel free to PM me. I'm better at alpha/beta testing just to let you know.
