Just wondering of a cool map to play on, maybe not now since 1.2 is out, but for 1.3 or later ...

As you've read in the story line of BB, theres some sort army experiment or minor nuclear meltdown that caused the rampaging undead horrors. And i thought well they could make a map about the plot.

The Nuclear Reactor Plant for instance, they start off at the outside entrance with soldiers providing covering fire while you enter the plant. The story obj would be, that after the survivours and the US Army had secured the city (Sorta). They would have to shut down or blow up the reactor core ( For some good reason i can't think of ), but they have to get past some crap that i could suggest ;

- Zombies from the plant (Obviously)

- Mutant's mutated by the radiation like maybe just a remodel of the Gnome ?

- Some radioactive hazzards and impassible areas that need to be flooded or decontaminated with useable switches

- Unbreakable doors that could be opened by the Op4 grunt (If they do get around to replacing the AI code with the Op4 Npc's) . That or a new game objective item, the C4 explosive device.

And many other features that could be included in the map ...

- Maybe a stationary gun that can be used at the start to clear a path to the front entrance to help if there is not enough ppl on the map.

- Fred could be sorta like a boss when they reach the reactor core, they get sealed in an have to defeat him before they can shut down or blow up the reactor.

- After they destroy the reactor or shut it down, the blackhawk chopper will pick em up at the start, thus ending the level.


Just a Suggestion, maybe not soon, but hopefully a good idea ? ....

- If the zombies are the default ones that come with BB, then yes.
- Mutants, no.* (Considered "Different type of zombie")
- Passable hazards are easily doable
- Op4 grunt, no*
- New game objective item, possibly, though I am working on a better way for something like that...
- Stationary gun, doable, but highly campable.*
- Final boss Fred, you can't seal the players in because of:
1) Respawning
2) Not all of them will get there at the same time

Items marked with an asterix ("*") are covered in this thread of things not the suggest.

Should have some Zombie Soldiers and maybe some Hazmats, cause of the type of map

- Well, as i said before to one of your other developers, he did say it was possible but required a lot of code change, but i said that this should be a later release, like 1.5 or something.

- Well if they cant do it then maybe a couple of those canisters could bust those doors open, eh ?

- Just an idea, maybe have it ontop of a tank (One of those models from HL). Or, you could be bot operated turret like the ones on the blackhawk, so noone can spam it.

- Well i was thinking just a one-way door, with a button on the outside that would allow anyone out or in, and maybe after fred is defeated, the broken button on the inside could be fixed ...

- The devs already have heard out having different zombie types and as far as I know it not nice and easy to add. Also, faster zombies are currently a no-go in general.

- I know, but with the current problems such as trying to squeeze out every bit of quality of the HL engine, just that they might not have the capabilty yet to perform such requests and changes to the next patch. I was only suggesting to one of the developers about planning in the near future to replace the HL Grunt AI with the Op4's one.

- But it doesn't have much of a challenge, unless you could make it a special map were one of the players plays the Engineer and you have to escort him to the doors and broken switches.

- But then the BB's Tank Cannon would take the challenge out of that too, unless you can make it stationary with a machinegun turret pod ontop of it, besides its not very safe using a 120mm High Explosive cannon near a Nuclear Reactor ?

- It sorta provides a kind of a story or realistic theme to it ... just a thought

- What happens if you get a player who refuses to co-operate? Also, BB focuses on playing as a survivor, not as a marine or engineer, so that is highlt unlikely at best.

- As for challenge and safty; that will all depend on how tank is positioned in the map.

Yes i suppose it would happen if someone refuses, but then he would get kicked off the server, as for the engineer idea, well he could be a survivour aswell, just a handyman called bob or something, i mean, you already have a mime on the characters selection.

And i was wondering if they are going to make a lighter version of the tank, like the one in half-life, the M3 Bradley Light Tank could be a stationary tank sporting the auto cannon to remove any hostile threat in the area it is positioned in.

Just think that could be used at the start, intead of the mobile Abrams.

How are you going to kick someone off the server for refusing if there is no admin present. What if they did not want to be the engineer? And yes, you can choose to play as a mime, however, none of the character skins provide any required or extra abilities.

The BB AI tank will not move if the mapper does not want it to move wink.gif

Still it's cannon wouldn't make it much of a challange clearing a path to the main entrance of the reactor plant.

But i ask you: How did you image it yourself ?
i think it´sa too hard to make.
