To Scottish, Madmax, and the rest of the crew:

I can only imagine your dissapointment at the relative lack of success of Public Enemy... I had a small go of it a few days ago and found a great deal of wonderful features and innovations that must have taken alot of time, work, and thought.

It's the risk that is always taken when you make an original game... the only games gauranteed to have a following are usually sports games and such, very simple titles that have been done to death in the past... Being a mod team mostly unknown (as far as I can tell) to the british and american halflife communities must also have contributed to PE.. fading.

I think BrainBread has a great deal of potential, and that it's simple premise and 'funmod' beginning may actually help it a great deal should it continue...

People don't have to think, they just download, set up, join a server and blast some walking corpses... Even though i've not yet played it, I think this mod will be a success, as long as people are told of it.

I truly hope you choose to continue supporting this project after release, we, the current community, have very high hopes of this mod, we all see its vast potential... As a beta tester I'll do my best to help perfect the current build, and pester the hell out of you all to keep adding to it, and perhaps continue it/make a similar project on the source engine, if your team has ambitions in that direction. Don't be dissuaded by the number of zombie mod projects already in developement for HL2, i am 100% certain no more than 30% will even reach release... Brainbreads ideas, premise, and the talent of your team could directly rival No More Room In Hell, the current prime zombie mod (basis for those who're unfamiliar; similar to brainbread but with alot more emphasis on barricading and sieges, i believe).

Brainbread started as a Fun Mod, and still is, but this community and hundreds or thousands of halflife playing zombie fans yet to discover the mod would love to see it exceed the limitations of such a title and become a fully fledged mod project, or total conversion. It could do it. If the HL1 engine version continues, is a success and is perfected, the game would have it's players, it's progress, the knowledge gained through developement, it's ideas, it's devoted community... virtually everything it needs to become a Source Engine project. It's your choice, but you could do it.

Whatever you choose to do, Ironoak, good luck with it.

Jakkar out.

P.S. Just be warned i'm going to come and kill you if you don't do what i say. cool.gif biggrin.gif

Actually we wanted to stop developing HL mods after BB and start with our new project. Developing a mod (even if it is succesfull) doesn't give us the finances we'd need to be able to put more effort (i.e. time) in it. However, we'll certainly tweak BB and add some more features/maps/models to it if it should become a success. And if it's a real big success then it could also help us finding a publisher so everything's yet possible.

We make our future plans mainly dependant on the success of BB. We gave up estimating a "probable success" as it's just unpredictable. We got very good pre-/reviews for PE and everybody said that it's just awesome, but after a few weeks there were hardly any players left. So we won't decide anything based on early user reactions wink.gif

But yes, the interesst in BB is indeed very high, and zombies + gore + simple gameplay could make it suitable for a higher range of players.
We'll just try to make it bugfree now and then we'll see what happens.

btw: "The dev. crew" is just Scottish, MadMax and me.

*grins* okay done, I won't come and kill you.. I'm very much interested in your mention of the term 'new project' and 'publisher'...

And it being just the three of you, let me know if you need someone who is completely unskilled in everything mod-developement related! biggrin.gif

Well... English is my speciality and i do design work well, but no-one seems to want to take someone aboard without the ability to code, map, skin, model, etc wink.gif

Anyway, once again, good luck, whatever you do.

A modification like BB but in larger scale for Half-Life 2 would be so awesome! biggrin.gif

I am one of those who played PE only one week and then no more. It was for me a CS with a future touch. The computer hacking mode was for me the same like bomb placing in CS only you have more than one bomb (computer). And the other mode to steal the suitcase was for me the same like hostage rescue, but only with one hostage and you couldn´t shot the suitcase.

The most Mods for games are only a clone of another one (mostly of CS or DoD), but BB is completely new and isn´t compare with other multiplayer modes I know. It were a pity if BB is only supported a short time.

PE's team/weapon selection menu's alone beat those of any other mod hands down, from my small experience, and the feel of the maps was damn nice, aswell as the advanced graphical features in them.

Thank you a lot for the comment jakkar! I think blood angel mentioned one of the problems of pe: It didn't look innovative or new if you looked at it: the character tweaking took some time and would show it's potential in clangames. And there aren't any of those smile.gif
BB differs from PE in many aspects, f.e. the one above. I hope you will enjoy it smile.gif

Hmm, sometimes things go better if you don't TRY to do them perfectly. If you start thinking "what would be fun to play" - not "what would be the best MOD" - you'll probably end up developing something new and genuine (well, not totally genuine). Of course you have to work hard because of mapping, skinning etc. but the main reason for making the MOD should be pure joy. I think that this is achieved in BB. smile.gif

Thank you very much! Well... Spin meant, that there will be (perhaps) a big Brainbread-title if the mod would be a success. We´ll see. The metaphysical, surreal and atmospherical touch of this post apocalyptical zombie world is very interesting; and mixed with great action and coop teamplay it has much potential. We´ve lots of ideas for this mod or a possible real commercial game title of BB... but as i often repeat; it depends on the success. biggrin.gif

*grins at MadMax's answer*

Have you played the original Fallout RPG's atall? They have a great feel in the same way... partially realistic, but then you realise the entire game is based of the premise that in about 2050, the world had technology greater than todays, but in the style of the 1950's, all vacuum tubes and such, no circuit boards for electronics, black and white tv, cheesy adverts, white picket fences...

Unique, slightly surreal universes do well... This already has all the makings of such a title with it's violent-comic aspects, like such a bright a colourful looking location named 'heaven's gate', and the powerful alpha zombies with named, like 'fred'.

*grins* I consider Fallout 1 the best game ever made, Fallout 2 one of the best, and Baldurs Gate II the same... I didn't like the first BG so much, far too damn difficult if you stray off the beaten path... it makes it feel linear, when if you make your own choices you come up against creatures that tear you in half.
