The debate has gone back and forth to remove the minigun. "Stay" won, since this is a fun mod.
What isn't really much fun is that the miniguns damage is ridiculous, I've shot 50 shots in the head of a player zombie, 0 ft. range
(Stuck the gun up his mouth) and he didn't die. Arent minigun ammunition like .50 or .30 cal? just a click with the mouse should have shredded anything to pieces.
It's not a real big problem, i can always use an ak47 or m16, but it should make it funnier to get the gun.

buy some aim....

one can slaughter dozens of zombies with one minigun, just use small firebursts and learn to aim

on a highpingserver the shotreg may be very bad aswell so that might be anotrher prob...

3-7 round burst to the head kills a zombie easy, however, if you are point blank, even if you aim at the head, chances are you are going to hit the torso, thusly why you couldn't kill them.

Also, the M134 Minigun fires a 7.62mm NATO round, which is the same caliber fired by a M60E3 and M240 Machineguns.

I use 3-7 round- bursts, but with a calibre of 7.62 it should severe a head instantly, as rotten as the zombie tissue is.

That depends on the flesh, if it is rotten enough, the bullet may very well pass right through, causing little more than a hole.

well for me .. when i got the minigun ... each of my kill is with a headshot
in bb if you didnt know ... NEVER in any case let your finguer pressed on your fire button.. cause the accurasy dont come back if you do

and actualy its fun to play with the minigun but .. we cant reaload the ammo of it sad.gif if i want use it back i have to get miself zombified or killed.
for the new version and make the minigun can get his ammo back ?

This has been already suggested numerous times.

It is also currently under consideration for implementation I do believe.

Technically, yes that is what he is saying, what he means to say is do not hold down the trigger on semi-auto weapons because you can get near perfect accuracy if you depress and release the trigger rather than hold, spray, and pray....

Ok, this is what I dont understand Why put in a mini-gun if the only way its used is in small bursts? You have a gun with an insanely high ROF, and yet, everyone is shooting the gun in bursts. This destroys the very purpose of the gun. You already have the m16, ak47, and Tavor for shooting accurately in bursts Why make the mini-gun counterproductive? The whole purpose of using the mini-gun is to shoot large amounts of lead at the approaching hoards of zombies. Its not supposed to be accurate, thats the whole idea. It gives up its accuracy for the sake of throwing out more lead then any thing else in game. The problem is that right now, the gun is just a little too weak and accurate, so people compensate by firing it in small bursts, with mixed results.

So what should be done?
Up the damage done by the mini-gun - The thing needs more power, so you can hold down the button kill a zombie in less then a minute. So then you might be thinking, But if we up the damage, then itd be the ultimate weapon Well, to balance it out, believe it or not, youd want to skew the accuracy even more then it already is. This way, you have a lot of high powered bullets flying in the direction you want them to go, but not landing exactly where you wish they did. Youll eventually either get lucky, and a bullet will pass through their head, or youll eventually rip them apart in the hail of bullets and leave nothing of a threat behind.

As the mini-gun stands right now, you essentially have just accidentally caused another copy cat gun. Everyone uses the mini-gun as they would the m16, ak47, or any other automatic Short bursts, aiming for the head. Essentially the only difference right now between the mini-gun and other automatics is that it has a larger clip, which you cant even reload.

Mortuus has made himself clear, and I agree with him. Maybe minigun should have faster shooting rate and you could only shoot it while standing still or something blink.gif

You logic on that point is skewed... Upping the damage and decreasing the accuracy will cause MORE people to use burst fire with a minigun. I know I would always use minigun burst fire if it changed like you suggested.

If you REALLY wanted to change the way people use the minigun:
- Decrease damage
- Decrease maximum recoil
- Decrease the rate at which recoil is garnered
- Increase accuracy
- Increase rate of fire
- Increase the maximum ammo capicity (code side)

Regardless of those changes, the minigun is the most accurate fully automatic weapon, which allows for headshots while continually firing. Which is then reason enough not to use controlled bursts when facing a mob of zombies.
