Before I get into my suggestions I just want to let the devs know I appreciate their work. Also I know this is a first release and even so its pretty damn good heh. I figure some of my suggestions are going to be dealt with during the next patch but its not gonna hurt anyone to say em again.

1. The obvious tweaking
The only useful skill right now is hp because speed and weapons skill is pointless. Weapons in general are somewaht weak because at point blank range a sawed of shotgun should take of someone's head with the first shot. (this is hit or miss somtimes you get an instant kill othertimes it only takes off half their head). Recoil is done rather well but the time for your crosshair is off by a mile. I like to go shooting and it doesn't take a quater of the time after you fire to put the sights back on the target.

2. Server Limits
Servers need to be limited to 10 players otherwise the game starts to lag badly. You might want to think about cutting down on the number of zombies if you want to increase players per server.

3. Zombies
The respawn system is ok but sometimes they just spawn so fast you can't get past them, other times you barely see any. Another note is that half the time there is no one in an area which makes me wonder couldn't they be lying on the ground (not using any of the cpu) until triggered. What I mean to say is that if you have large levels most areas are unoccupied so just having them lying down until someone gets to a certain part in which case they stand up etc.

4. Hl2
I know this isn't a popular subject but from what I have read it is easier to port code over to source then starting from scratch on a new engine. My suggestion would be to move the game over to source to take advantage of the ai and physics but leave the graphics the same. Reason being is that you could dedicate all your power to making the zombies more fun and later on (should you decide to make this a bigger mod) upgrade the graphics when the average computer is a bit more powerful.

5. Guns
Aside from my earlier bit under tweaking guns and ammunition should be in short supply in this mod. Most zombie movies the people do not have unlimited ammunition and access to every gun on the planet. It creates a sense of desperation when you have a pistol with two clips and only a few rounds for your shotty

Well I am off to play a bit more heh hope these help some. ohmy.gif

1. damage and speed add 5% per point. 1 point indeed is useless, but with 6 points ya have a 30% increase. 10 points, 50% increase. the shotgun has been widely debated and its most likely the spread. the crosshair isnt off, aim with the dot.

2. you can set this in the listenserver.cfg, or server.cfg, or use maxplayers 12 in the console then map bb_heavensgate. also, well known subject, not to mention the pin in the general discussion.

3. the spawn system works exactly like you suggest, only they rise up from the ground. if you dont see any, its because the server has a zombie limit (no more then taht number on a map) and 2-3 people are both surrounded by 30 of them. if the limit's 60, then theres no more left for you.

4. read the FAQ. i mean, it doesnt exist so it can be ignored.

5. tried and tested in the beta. didnt work out.

I got on a server where they gave you 200 skill points and I maxed everything out (weapons skill only went to 23 for some reason) and still was unable to kill zombies with one shot to the head with m16 most of the time.

While you might be able to set the server limit to 12 (duh) most servers aren't set to that and people start joining yours in which case the game locks up until enough people quit.

The spawn system doesn't work like I said because i have been spec at the start of a game and halfway though and both times the zombies are walking around on the other end of the map. What I am suggesting is they only get up off the ground if people are near not spawn. this will cut down on the cpu usage.

4. read the faq before I ever became a member it was a suggestion

5. from what I read in beta you also had fast zombies. it could work if tweaked correctly a nice example is trying to play through ravenholm in hl2 without using the gravity guns. Enemies spawn constantly and ammunition is sparse so if you wander around too much things start to become rather desperate. Right now the way most people play the games is to hull themselves up somewher with access to ammo and just shoot everything that moves. there is no reason to venture out. Objectives might be in the game but the only time in 8 hours of playing that anyone has beaten a map is when the admin lowered gravity.

The m16 is not a powerfull weapon seeing as it's a spawn weapon, and it takes no weapon skill at all to use.

Try an ak 47, or a mini chain gun...

They are much better.

It can be effective when you use the secondary fire, but that takes awhile to do for the second shot, so the mini-uzi , or the ak47 are some of the best guns.

And they kill in 1-2 headshots.

Actually, I've found the m16 to be a great weapon for something you get when you spawn.. just spray at head level and you can take down a mob of zombies in seconds (although sometimes you need to finish them off with a pistol or the sawed off :\).

the m16 can actually quite easily kill a zombie at one shot... just dont aim at the fase but at the top of the skull, that blows both parts of the head clean off most of the time.

No we didnt... I don't know where he got that idea... the only thing we did was make it so you spawn without a weapon... which I personally liked a lot more than this "spawn with a bunch of military grade weapons" thing...

I think spawning without a gun would be fun but you would only be able to put a few zombies around because people would be overwhelmed easily.
