I was thinking of maybe when you right click it brings the axe above your head and swings down for a more powerful blow.

Sounds like a real good idea, increased damage, but a slower RoF, possibly make the primary fire a tad bit faster too.

maybe you can make it like CS's knife, primary quick slash, secondary, slower, but more powerful attack. or just put in a chainsaw....

Oh though I endorse a chopping swing. I also would like to point out I endorse using a Chainsaw to cut wood rather then chopping. Thank you.
