Okay, hopefully I fixed the problem with the first beta release. I have reduced the numbers of ents in this version by at least 30%, the number of ents in the map is less than 500 so the problem should be gone. However, if anyone encounters a no free edicts crash or any other bugs/problems please post in this thread or pm me.

Ok, now here is the bb_bayou_beta2.txt file:

Welcome to Alligator Bayou, an ecotour through a pristine wilderness of winding bayous, alligator swamps and a stunning lake of old-growth cypress trees... What rubbish! The bugs bite you all over! The inescapable sweltering heat, combined with freaking alligators that will rip your legs off if you don't watch your step. You must have been out of your mind thinking this was a good idea for a vacation. So to punish you for your stupidity, Hell sends you the living dead...

Your goal in this mission is to get to the safety of an underground military station
hidden deep within the swamp. This is accomplished in the following steps:

1.) The first thing you have to do is get out of your insecure cabin and get to the
docks where your boat is.

2.) Fight off some of the zombie horde.

NOTE: I noticed that it almost becomes impossible to beat the level with this mission included if there are more than 3 people.. You may want to edit your bb_bayou_beta2.tsk file to take this mission out. You should only do this if you are running a server and want to be able to complete the mission easier. Open up the file in notepad. The tsk file will look like this:

prologue start -
docks - -
frags - -
looted storedoor -
fred - c4door
c4looted - -
demolition blasterlock -
escape - -

Go to the third line "frags - -" and remove it and resave the file. It should now look like this:

prologue start -
docks - -
looted storedoor -
fred - c4door
c4looted - -
demolition blasterlock -
escape - -

Beating the map is possible with lots of people without doing this, but everyone has to work together or people have to make up a lot of slack.


3.) You need to stock up on food and supplies. Loot the local grocery store.

4.)A recent storm has caused the entrance to the bunker to be blocked by rubble.
You know of a local guy that was a former demolitions expert, maybe he can help.
His name's Fred... find his house.

5.) Oh no! Fred turned into a zombie! Waste him and raid his shed for the explosives.

6.) Use the explosives on the rubble, then proceed down into the bunker to safety!

Ok, this is a very CREEPY aspect of this map. The static that comes from this tv is special. The static was recorded inside a cemetery at night, the voices you hear inside the static are supposedly from the dead! This is supposed to be real! I got the wav file from a website that investigates paranormal activities. I don't believe in ghosts though... cool.gif

The only problem I had was the ammount of shrubs/bushes there were...
But then I thought, "But thats what makes a bayou, a bayou!"

It reminds me of the swamp place in Dungeon Siege, i always thought that would be a cool place to kill zombies!

I must say I think this has the potential to be your best map yet, even better than cemeterytrouble. I just played it on my server, alone, with a 30 minute time limit, playing with normal difficulty, and I beat it with about 5 minutes to spare.
I have 2 suggestions to improve it:
1. There are no radar dots! This is a really big and confusing map since all of the pathways look the same and it was really hard to know where to go! The only radar dot I remember seeing was where Fred was, all the others I just wandered around looking where the docks, grocery store, and rubble were. If you didn't include these on purpose I disagree with this decision as I feel it takes away from the fun of the map by making it very hard and frustrating as to where you need to go.
2. I was playing alone on my server with about a 70 ping and having huge gameplay debilitating lag. Which leads me to believe it was engine/video lag. I think the w_polys/r_speeds are way too high throughout most if not all of the map and from the moment I first spawned I had difficulty moving and aiming.
I just barely escaped playing alone and it took me about 25 minutes to do so, in large part due to this lag as well as not knowing where to go. If you can make it run as smoothly as cemeterytrouble that would be awesome.
Overall, great job. I love the departure in theme from the usual military bunker/urban locale, the custom missions that fit the story nicely, and the boat!

The r_speeds average 600-800, there are only two areas are the r_speeds high, and you have to be at looking at the entire area. I think the lag comes from the animated textures or maybe the ambient sounds. Most likely they come from the animated textures. I can beat the map solo in 6 mins total, but then again I know where everything is. The radar marks, I really can't do anything about until the devs add a custom mission radar mark. The Fred radar mark and case radar marks are coded in, I can only add the radio radar mark (which isn't used in this map) and the escape zone radar mark, which I did add.

No lag, on my server even with three people! but its annoying cuz people dont come to these forums, therefore they cant get the sounds and stuff so they cant get into my server! and im still cool cuz my names on the objectives!
