Well, I found a link to this mod off of Steam, so I figured it was a Half-Life 2 mod, and when I downloaded it and installed it, it installed in the SteamApps folder but when I try to run it, the computer tells me that it is looking for HL.EXE, which of course is not installed currently

So, first of all, is this a mod for HL2 or HL?

If it is for HL2, how do you get it to run?

If its not, someone may want to tell the Steam people no to advertise it to HL2 people

Thanks

I see... might be a good idea for someone to tell Steam to stop advertising it for HL2 users then...

So I just re-installed HL, and I upgraded it to the latest version I could find, which is 1.1.1.0.

Then I installed Brainbread had to specifically tell it NOT to install itself in the Steam folder for some reason if its not made for HL2, its awfully weird how it desperately wants to go in to the steam folder

So I manually installed it in the HL folder, but when I run it, it tells me that it needs to update itself. Then, after checking for updates, it tells me that Half-life needs to be updated from 1.1.1.0 to the latest version, but that it cant find any updates

Errr any ideas?

First of all, in order to run and play any half life mod you have to install regular half life, as in not half life 2.
When installing half life you have to install it through steam, go to play games and it should show half life listed somewhere there, right click and tell it to install. After you have installed it through steam (no outside updates, those are for when steam was non-existent, steam automatically updates everything now) run the installation for brainbread and it should point to "steam\steamapps\youremail@address\halflife", that is the correct place to install. Let it install then go back into steam and check your play games list, brainbread should be listed under THIRD PARTY GAMES

-note- if you bought the bronze edition of half life 2 (and you have never bought any previous valve games) you will not be able to play regular half life, and none of the mods that belong to it

If you have no idea what im talking about, then i cant help you

I just looked at the STEAM Third party games... And every single one of them was for HL1 and there wasn't a single reference to HL2... So I don't know about that excuse...

And DooD already said everything else that need be said.

It's not steams fault you cannot be arsed to read, as soon as you come to the site, the banner says:
A half life modification, Not Half life 2 modification. wink.gif
The reason you need to install through steam is because WonID is dead now.
