Hey all,

There are a couple of things I'd like to address...

First off, great mod, lots of fun.

I see a lot of people running listen servers where they're playing...that's only fair, but there are a couple of things you might want to consider if you're serving.

First off, everyone's noted the lag issues due to having so many NPCs. Please don't make it worse by trying to serve with 8 players while downloading the director's cut of Shaun of the Dead off bittorrent (this actually happened today).

Second, enough with the constant shutting down and restarting. If you don't know how to change anything (e.g., levels) without shutting down your server, then learn how before you run one.

Finally, unless your server rules explicitly state that you don't want player zombies eating the human players, then don't kick people for doing it. It's just stupid. All you have to do is tell people not to do it when they join.

we had this in the FAQ, but yea.

And Admins:
please use CHANGELEVEL to change maps
and SHUTDOWNSERVER instead of just hitting the "x"

"shutdownserver", so that is what it is in HL1, I only knew the HL2 "killserver", which doesn't work in HL1... so I resorted to the "X" happy.gif though not before informing people I would do it biggrin.gif

no, its:
changelevel <mapname>

using map will kick everyone from the server.

No, it isn't. There is a VERY large difference between "changelevel" and "map"

map <mapname>
- RESTARTS the server, effectively KICKING every player and forcing them the manually rejoin

changelevel <mapname>
- changes the current map, does NOT restart server, and all players automatically reconnect as though the current level had just ended.

Also:
changelevel2 <mapname>
can be used if you'd like to change maps while keeping the current mission and round time.
