When I first played BrainBread and got my skill to level 7 I picked up the flamethrower thinking it would own all zombies in the area. I was disapointed to see that you had to keep a constant wave on a zombie in order for it to actually effectively die, sure the setting the zombies on fire hurts them, but it doesn't really kill enough to make the small amount of ammo useful.

So I was thinking, why not replace the flamethrower with a grenade launcher. Make the default amount of skill to pick it up 10, and make it only have 10 grenade rounds. This could serve a huge amount of usefulness in heavensgate. The spot where the flamethrower would be, would now be a grenade launcher, and the amount of zombies there is huge. One shot, KABLOOM, many chunks of undead flesh.

If any grenade launcher would to be used, I'd think the M79 of the HK-P from Resident Evil. They fit in very well and look awesome.

That's about it for that suggestion.

Well, me my brother and a friend of ours all played on a listen server I created. We all got flamethrowers are were blasting away at zombies and Fred in carnage. Not one of us lagged, so it's not really a problem I see.

But it does own all the zombies in the area, you are just usinging incorrectly, Recently I racked up 23 kills in rather short order on ABC's 135% Difficulty server.

Using the flamethrower against isolated targets and/or small, loose groups of zombies is useless. Find a mob of them, douse twice at most, and most of that mob is gone.

As for grenade launcher suggestion, we have already had at least one discussion on it:

And I recall seeing other threads show even less optmism for such a weapon...

Crazy, since when ever I try that, I get about 5 or so kills before ammo runs out and the flames die off.

The flamethrower kills an enemy slowly, think about it if someone got set of fire they would slowly die, not just drop dead after a few seconds. laugh.gif

You only need to ignite them with the flamethrower. They'll receive and deal damage to anyone nearby as long as they burn. The flames will die after a few seconds and if it hasn't died by then you'll have to ignite it again. Keeping them under constant barrage with the flamethrower doesn't deal extra damage to them.

Man, I wish I had a demo of the gigantic group of zombies I licked with flames and only about 3 of them died.

That's rather interesting Mr. Shoe, because I can go get a demo of myself killing 20+ zombies in a group with a flamethrower....

i, too, find the flamethrower very inneffective. when playing bb_dotdmall_final, i flamed a giant group of zomboids outside the gunshop, using the douse, wait a few, douse again technique. i got a few kills. next time around, i lit em up a few times, then wasted them all with the minigun. both highly inneffective weapons, says i. i think both need replacing, preferably by weapons which make sense, as no militaries use flamethrowers anymore, and a minigun is not a man-portable weapon. i like the grenade launcher idea.

I think the minigun should be replaced by an M60/M249, as they are Heavy Weapons, as is the minigun.
