But regardless of which game I said, I want to get a RE feel in general.
![]() ![]() The most noticable change in beta 2 is that you now start outside. Other small areas have also been fixed, but nothin too noticable. Ladder in lobby is set to be on at all times (even before its lowered) *For some reason the ladder works even before its triggered* Anyway, just wanted to put the outside area in there for ya! ![]() ![]() POLICE_CON6 Beta 3 will include better environment objects, such as nicer chairs, tables, etc... Gonna postpone the basment, need to play through the game again to get a better sense of the atmosphere. Also lookin into better textures... Regardless, I'll keep you updated ![]() |

Actualy its not shit stuff. Theres some files called detailtextures that give the illusion of detail. Heres an example.

@detailtexes most of them look not that much better than the original ones, one seem to have more surface-structure, moreover 90% of the hl-mod-players switch them off in their config... -------------------- |

You dont need a "tutorial" for texture lighting, its fairly simple to explain.
When you compile with the hl tools, see a file called lights.rad? Just add lines into the files for what textures you want to emit light and its color/ brightness. example for white texture: +0~WHITE 255 255 255 100 Texture RGB Brightness hope that helps -------------------- |

I personally prefer to use detail textures when they're used correctly. High(er)-res textures are great, but there is a 4 meg (8 if you push it) limit on texture usage. Also, since you can turn detail textures off, you give the user a choice of performance vs. visual quality. Also, there are some neat lighting effects that you can get with detail textures that you just can't do with standard textures (something to do with the grey-scale of the .tga file).
