Ok, I've never made a map before, but I really like BB... The only trouble i'm going to have I think is with entities.
Anyways, here's some screenies of what I've done so far.

EDIT: Oh yeah, this is my first map ever so I want criticism/suggestions if you will. Also I'm having trouble on how to compile this so I can do a quick test and see if I've correctly worked the few entities I've made. An experienced mapper who can help would be appreciated.

looks good for a first map, heres some suggestions. the fences could cause r_speed problems, just use a texture that already has the uneven look. some of the textures are stretched and out of place (like the window on the building going into the door). the road seems awful thin. and thats about it. gj for not using hl textures for your first map

Yeah, it's all CS and BB textures.
Actually the fences do have the uneven look, I just messed with the model(?) to make the faces match the texture. I kinda planned on changing it to a different one later on, so I guess I will. I redid the door on the second building so the window isn't sticking into it. The roads are 128 units wide, that should be enough, shouldn't it?

@Howzer: Nope. You missunderstood him. wink.gif You created brush based fences (which cause high r_speeds and compiling problems)... that's not good (and not necessary either). Just create a long brush entity (tie brush to entity) and use the alpha texture option (the green/blue part of the texture will be invisible in that case). Take a look at the tutorial maps of HL1. There you'll learn how to use such textures.

Thanks MadMax.

Last night I finished the roads, so it's pretty much mapped out. I added a couple of small buildings this morning but they're not finished. I might put some screens up later tonight if I get things looking nice, although I have some papers I have to write for class so it's iffy.

If anyone has some vehicle/wreckage models or prefabs I could use, I'd greatly appreciate them. Also models/things for a gas station would be great.
Also if someone who knows what they are doing could tell me how to check polys, that'd be great, and also what a good number for polys should be.
I see faces under map information, but I was told that's not the thing I need(by the way it's currently at 5134 faces, is that bad?).
Also my texture memory is at 5 MB, what's a good size for that/how can I cut back on memory?

To get your amount of pollies in the current area type r_speeds 1 in the console and take the middle number that shows up in the console.

Ok this is pising me off, I can't compile my map to a .bsp! I'm friggin confused and angry! Someone please tell me how to do this cus the compiler stuff has me all confused.

Howie are you using the standard stuff that comes with VHE or did you get Zoners Tools? Zoners rocks...the standard stuff doesn't work sometimes....Ill come over tonight if I can or tommorow...Gabe said I cant come tonight because Lisa is coming over tommorow morning.

Ok i got the map compiled, but i got a major problem. When you go through the windows and hit the ground, you get stuck in duck mode. I don't know what the hell is going on. Some people i talked to said it might have something to do with the gamemovement.cpp. What happens is you spawn in a room on the second floor of the building, with the window as your only escape and zombies pushing you towards it. you have to jump-crouch into the window and crouch-walk through it, then fall to the ground below. I'm going to put somethign there to land on but right now you just hit the ground and take about 10 damage, and get stuck in crouch mode. I think at one point I made it onto the bilboard but i don't remember if I was stuck crouching or not. Anyways I hop someone can help so I don't have to redo my spawn stuff.

edit: After a little testing i figured out that it is going through the window that gets you stuck in crouch.

This is what Ive said for the past couple months every time has requested source: BB source is highly unlikely because the mod team (Ironoak) has decided to use the crystal engine to create an rpg, although they have said there is a small chance of going to source but please, for the sake of all mankind, do not request a port and/or create polls, or even useless threads about the porting of BB, because it is most likely not going to happen, thank you for reading.
