2.02 GHz AMD processor
128mb ATI RADEON 9700 Pro 512 RAM My specs are above the system requirements by ALOT but then at the same time I am having outrageous ping levels at 400's or more while everyone else in the server has like 60. Anyone care to help a fellow out? |

Hardware specs do not detirmine latancy, your connection and location relative to the server does in addition to your connection variable settings.

I believe this has come up often before, but since I don't believe it is in the FAQ yet, I'll reiterate:
1) Connection - make sure you have highspeed/broadband 2) BW usage - make sure you close any other programs that require bandwidth 3) HL settings: rate - can be set anywhere up to 20,000. Good range for DSL/broadband is between 9999-12000 cl_updaterate - controls how frequently your client updates. Set between 20-45 for servers with less upload. 45-80 for servers with good upload bw. cl_cmdrate - controls how frequently you update the server. Set between 15-35 if you have a decent connection. 35-50 if you have a good connection as always, experimentation is the best way to find out which values work best. Use "net_graph 3" to turn on the netgraph to help you with this. -------------------- |
