yea i guess you are. can we get a mapper to verify this? also, if that is true, id still rather runinto a building and grab some ammo, then see 5 dead people on the ground.

Buildings arent entities unless the mapper is using models in place of world polys (which is normally what buildings in HL1 are made out of). If youre talking about a building that you can only see the outside of (or has been built very well with VIS and texturing in mind) models are probably going to be much more complex as far as what you can see at a given moment (typically, I try to keep my wpolys down around 300-600 wpolys at a given moment when mapping, just your gun alone is probably over 1000 epolys, well thats guessing). Having bodies placed here and there in a map isnt that detrimental to HL1, as long as its done in moderation. Youd probably need to get a modeler to verify it, but Im pretty sure that the zombie models are more complex than the barney or hgrunt models as well. So, itd probably be pushing the HL engine more to have 3 zombies vs. 3 dead marine models. Though, I can check the epoly count if anyone really wants me to.
Besides, if anyone has seen turret farming in Natural-Selection, that should be proof enough that the HL1 engine can handle quite a bit, a little more slowly, but it can usually handle quite a few epolys. ![]() -------------------- Still mapping away!! |

So you can verify that adding a few bodies, perhaps a car wreckage to the official maps, could be done without severily upping fps?
I'm not asking the team to do this, perhaps some kind mapper could do it, and Ironoak add the updates as the official maps. |

Maybe they are like the zombies from Sean of the dead and have retained thier rudimentary skills? Like playing video games, gathering shopping carts, and moderating forums (zing!).
