Present

Major Silva was scared. She was not afraid to admit this, everyone under her command was scared as well. A bead of sweat ran down behind her ear and down her neck, she felt it keenly, she was pumped, she could even smell the fear on the other marines, they were assembled here, the best the compound could offer. A scientist in a white lab coat came out and began breifing them.

Hello, ladies and gentlemen. You are gatherd here today to address a threat that has been building. 5 months ago, we, as you know, opend a....teleport....to another dimension....and hellish creature awaited us, the origional compound was lost, it is your job to get it back. You leave in 5 hours, get ready.

Silva dully went to her quarters, unfeeling, to any passerbyers she looked alarmingly robotic, her moves purely mechanical, she wasnt thinking about here and now, she was rembering.

Part 1: Downfall
Section A
Emerald Labs, Section B, 5 Months Ago.

Silva huddled in the small vent she had wedged herself in, the butt of her pistol pressed tight against her chest as her eyes feverishly scanned outside her small encloser, 4 times the creatures had swept past her, the last time chasing 2 men. The blood still dripped down from above her forehead where a splash of it had gotten through the vent, she shiverd uncontrollably. The counter on the pistol read a dull, flashing 07. Seven shots, she thought...6 for them...and one for me.

She let out a tiny whimper, and heard a growl outside her vent. She sucked in her breath and held it, remaining absolutely motionless as the vent was torn off and an 8 eyed face was lowerd to look, a mouth full of teeth surrounded by tight grey flesh made the face seem skull like, it hissed in suprize...and received 6 shots in its face for the discovery, flailing backwards it landed in a heap and went still. Silva shudderd at the sight of it, the lanky creature was nearly 9ft tall when it stood upright, allthough most of the time they moved in a half crouch. Its long claws could rip through the toughest armor, and they could, by means yet unknown, produce hellish red balls of fire from their hands and hurl them ay their enemies.

She shakingly reached out and replaced the grate, huddled in her corner, one shot left in her pistol, surrounded by death and demons, she fell into an exausted sleep.

Section B

Silva woke up, startled, angry at herself for falling asleep, she realised why she awoke, booted, and thankfully human feet, stomped on the metal floor, voices hushed in whispers, she smelled the sweet tang of gunpowder and the charred ashes that meant they had encounterd the creatures she had met and had, for lack of a better name, called Imps. Her uniform ragged and torn, her armor shredded and left in some unnamed corridore amidst the remains of her squad, her rifle snapped in half and her spare clips in the armor, she considerd using the last shot in her pistol to end it all. The marines outside would investigate and give her body a burial, she would not be eaten...but something inside her awoke hungrily as she remberd her squad, her brothers, her sisters and her comrads. A band of steel was formed in her soul, branded for revenge, she smiled to herself, a scared smile, a tired smile, but a triumphant one...and opend the vent, to the shouts of the marines, a bright light shone upon the vent as she weakly crawled out, the small 5'8 redhead a startling sight. The marines looked at eachther and one leveld a shotgun at her face Speak, now. He demanded. Silva smiled We come in peace, and bring gifts she then collapsed in a heap on the floor, exausted.

Section C

Silva woke to white lights and doctors, hovering around her, she smiled and nodded when they asked her questions...did this hurt when we poked here, are you allright, are you hungry. She just smiled. Eventually, they left, and she was alone in the darkness again.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Silva realised she had reached her bed, rembering that. They had dragged her out of that hellhole and promoted her to Major for surviving and telling them whatever they needed to know, she had even managed to snag the security footage of the origional portal. Only survivor, she was told. She shudderd a bit at that, only survivor out of a crew of 5000. She looked at her bed and it was inviting, 5 hours...she could get some sleep.

End Of Part 1: Downfall

Part 2: Not Getting Paid Enough To Do This

Silva eyed the hi-tech looking door before her...or rather, what was the door, it was just a smoking pile of scrap now. Her team of 20...commandos she would guess she should call them, were chatting with themselves, not afraid at all, and only sightly nervous. Amatuers she thought to herself as she took a step in, her brand spanking new railgun shining light with the specially made flashlight that actually shined from within the barrel...telling her where she would hit and giving her a sight of it, she still didnt know how the bullet didnt hit the light but she really didnt care. She shined it around for a few more seconds and clicked the mike twice, the all clear signal. The rest of the team edged in, showguns and machine guns scanning all around, 20 double-clicks were heard. That was when she noticed the tiny glowing red light down the hallway. She tensed and crouched, the rest of her team doing the same, guns aimed down the corridores...which is why none of them saw the creature sneak up on the rear guard and tear his spine out.

((will post more later, part 2 is not done))
