Part 6: Allmost there
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rick stood against the wall, he wiped tears and sweat from his face, the bandages on his hand were full of blood, the wound hurted but Rick didn't really feel it. Rick took ammo clips from Tom's body and placed them on his pockets. He reloaded his gun and looked at the sign, then he started walking left. There was a elevator at the end of the hallway, Rick entered it and pressed the 'Bridge' button. The elevator hissed and screeched, the doors closed and it started slowly climbing up, the elevator made a loud, 'clonk' noise. As the elevator was close to the bridge Rick took his rifle and aimed at the doors. The elevator hissed, and the doors opened. Rick stood still and aimed at the room, waiting for any possible aliens to attack. (Must be an ambush.. They're either at the walls or at the ceiling.) Rick thought, he took a few careful steps and got out of the elevator, he looked around; the room was full of computers, some of the computers were on and some off. Seeing there was no aliens around Rick putted his rifle on his back and went to examine the computers. A dead marine was lying against a computer, like if the aliens would have killed him while he was operating the computer. Rick looked at the computer screen; *Open hangar doors? Yes No* Rick sighed from relief, he pressed the 'yes' button (the computers had touchable screens to save room) The computer hummed a while, then it made a 'beep' sound; *System Override; Power shortage. Enable reserve generator? Yes No* Rick scarched his head and pressed the yes button. The computer hummed, and then suddenly more lights came up, and the other computers turned on. The computer beeped; *Hangar doors open. Thank you for using NG Computers* Rick made a faint smile and rushed to the elevator, he pressed at the 'Mess Hall & Hangar' button, the elevator hissed and started going down. *Meanwhile, at the hangar* "The doors opened!" A marine yelled, everyone raised their heads and looked out of the window, "Lets get the hell out of here!" he said. The pilot came out from the control room; "Not yet..! We must wait for Tom and the others, they must have gotten the doors open" He said. "Oh.. Right" the marine said. Rick rushed out of the elevator, he ran past the Mess Hall and got to the hangar. Rick waved his hands and yelled; "Hey! Let me in!" The ship's doors slowly started to open. "Rick!! Behind you!" someone shouted from the ship, Rick quickly took his rifle and turned around. Rick saw an adult fade standing in front of him. A large claw swiped Rick's chest. Part 7: Newsflash
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rick heard faint gunshots and screams. Rick slowly opened his eyes, he could barely see. He was lying on the cold floor, he tried to move his arms but he couldn't. Rick saw the other marine fighting the alien. He raised his head so that he could see what happened to him. His chest armor had been cut in half, a loong wound went around his stomach, it seems that it had only teared skin off. Suddenly someone collapsed right next to Rick, Rick turned his head to look. It was one of the marines, the alien had thrown him here. The marine shaked his head and got up, ".. Rick? You allright?" he asked, "I'm... Not sure" Rick said. Suddenly something exploded, green blood splattered around the room, the alien had been blown up by a grenade. "Now, lets get out of here!" the marine said, "Come help me carry Rick in the ship" he yelled. *30 Minutes Later* Rick told the others what happened while he was out, "This was a hell of an training mission.." one of the marines sighed. The ship suddenly shaked, "What the hell was that?" a marine yelled, "They blew up Hera" the pilot yelled back. *Meanwhile, on earth* Rick's father sat on his couch and turned the TV on. *Good afternoon, what would you like to wach?* the TV said with a calming woman voice. "News" Rick's father said. The TV screen went black for a few seconds, and then it started showing news. *We have just gotten news that the GFSA training station, Hera, has been destroyed by the command of the President. The preside...* Rick's father snapped, "..Honey! Come look at this!" he yelled, Rick's mother ran to the room, "What is it?" she asked, "Look" Rick's father said. *... "Mr. President, was there an Kharaa infestation on the station?" an interviewer asked, the president looked kind of nervous, "The station was overrun by the Kharaa.. We destroyed it to prevent the aliens from advancing towards earth." the president explained, "What do you have to say to the people who lost a friend or an relative today?" the interviewer asked, ".. This has been a sad day, and I must say that the terror of the Kharaa wont end here. Our scientists are developing a weapon to annihialite the Kharaa once and for all" the president said, "What kind of weapon?" the interviewer asked, "Sorry I cant comment on that" the president said. *And now to other news..* Rick's father closed the tv, "Say.. What was the name of the station Rick was assigned to?" he asked, "H..Hera.." Rick's mother said horrified. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Part 8: Home free?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rick looked at his wound, he noticed that the wound was allmost closed allready, but he didin't waste any thoughts for the wound. Rick suddenly started feeling weak, his vision started to go blurry and he couldn't hear properly. He stood up and collapsed on the floor. He heard the others yelling something for a while and then came silence. Rick opened his eyes, a bright light allmost blinded him. He was at a hospital, he had a oxygen mask and many small pipes going in and out of his body, he couldn't move his body at all, and talking seemed impossible to him. Some of the computers around him started peeping, some people came in wearing some kind of suits. They looked at the computers and at Rick, then they talked about something. They seemed suprised about something, then they leaved the room as quickly as they came, then Rick fell asleep. Rick woke up, now he were in a different room, like a rest room. This time he was able to move, and there were no pipes in him. A computer started peeping, it seemed to mean that the patient had woken up. Shortly after that a doctor came in in a regular, white hospital uniform. "Whats going on?" Rick asked, the doctor closed the door behind him, "I am your doctor for now, Rick" the doctor said and examined Rick and the computer, "So.. From what I've heard you had an Kharaa parasite in you" the doctor said, "What? Is that bad?" Rick asked, the doctor laughed for a econd, "In most cases yes, you would be dead by now. But somehow your body has managed to destroy the parasite, we dont know why and how" the doctor said, Rick scrached his head, "One question, have you ever noticed anything strange about you'r health?" The doctor asked, "No, not really. Where's my mom and dad?" Rick asked, "We just informed them that you are here, they should be here soon." the doctor said. "What happened to the others who were with me?" Rick asked, the doctor snapped and his smile faded away, "They all were found dead in the space ship, you lying unconscious on the floor" he said, "What..? How did they die? We were at space!" Rick yelled, "We dont know.. A parasite did not kill them, as the bodies were bleeding badly. Parasite kills silently and doesnt leave and wounds. Someone or something killed them" the doctor said, "No.. I dont belive that" Rick said, "Dont stress you'r self. Rest now, I'm going to do some paperwork now, if you need any help press that blue button on that computer and someone will come" The doctor said and left the room. "They were so close getting home.. What happened? What ever killed them, why did it spare me?" Rick said to himself.  Kharaa parasite as seen by a microscope |

I guess I can say; No, first the Kharaa parasite sends information of the host to the hive, and the hive shows the humans location as 'hivesight'. If the parasite stays long in the host it will kill the host. It's not a T virus  Thanks for the feedback I appriciate it. |

Part 9: Family Meeting
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rick's father and mother rushed in the room, "Are you allright? Thank god" his father said, "We were so worried" his mother said. "I't was horrible.. I'm amazed I made it out alive. Everyone else died.." Rick said, "No more army for you, I can arrange you papers that let you quit the army" Rick's father said, "That's good, I guess" Rick said and smiled. Rick wiped his smile; "I't was such a mess there.. They had killen everyone, I really hope they dont come to Earth" he said, "Leave those things to the army, honey" Rick's mother said, "You'r not taking me seriously mom, Hera was the station closest to Earth, so go figure" Rick snorted, "But they blow it up, so all the aliens died, no?" Rick's father said, "I don't know.. I'm sure the Kharaa were aware of the possibilty of Hera getting blown up.." Rick said, "Stop worrying so much, I go ask the doctor when you can come home" Rick's dad said, and left the room. "Rick, what excactly happened to you?" Rick's mother asked, "I think some alien planted a parasite at me, a parasite that normaly would kill it's host, but somehow my body managed to destroy the parasite" Rick said, his mother smiled; "The first time I saw you I knew there was something special about you" she said. Rick smiled, he was happy to be back on Earth. Rick's father came to the room, "The doctor said that you should get back to home tomorow, they're keeping you here just to observe.. Or something like that" he said, "I'm going to go get those papers.. I'll see you again at the evening" he said, "See you dad" Rick said, then his father walked away. "I have to go tell the others that you're okay, I'll come see you with you'r father at the evening" Rick's mother said, "Right. See you later then mom" Rick said, "Bye honey, don't stress you'r self!" she said and went away. The door closed and the lights went out. Rick closed his eyes and tried to get some sleep. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Part 10: Preparations
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Somewhere around nowhere, in an desert far away from civilization, a military base stands by and is ready for an Kharaa invasion. It's radars and satelites scan the space for any Kharaa life forms. Now, for the first time, the alarm rings in the base. *Kharaa life forms detected near Earth, estimated time of arrival four hours. Risk: Moderate* was announced around the base. For the first time the greatest weapon technology humans have ever achieved, was going to be used. A huge cannon that fired large laser beams that are allmost as fast as sunlight, a weapon that could be used to wipe out planets. "They must be from Hera" said the commander of the base, "But how, we blew it up" he said and looked at the scientists near him, "We have no idea, there is absolutely no way any specie would have survived that blast" a scientist declared, "No matter, fire the laser cannon and lets get this done with. No need to inform the media, i't would only cause panic" the commander said, "Yes sir, right away" the scientists chanted and left the room. *Meanwhile, Rick has just been transferred back to his home, unaware of what's happening, he is enjoying his return.* "... Then one of those little guys leaped towards me, but I bashed it's head with the back of my gun!" Rick proudly explained and his little cousins listened in awe. "Then I-" Rick started but something stopped him finishing, he walked to a window and looked at the sky, "Whats wrong Rick?" his father asked, "They're out there.. Something tells me they are" he said. Everyone looked at Rick confused, "I told you, you should rest more" Rick's mother said. "Nevermind.. I guess you'r right mom" Rick said.  Early prototype of the laser-railgun ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well I scrapped what I wrote before, i't was too strange  This is rather short yes, but ready the part's name and go figure =P |
