I would add an RPG style element to it and more advanced ways to interact with the world around you, among other things.
Here's a few of my ideas in more detail: Aside from a huge envirement with nice graphics... Several types of zombies, all with different properties. Some could be "newly infected" and be rather strong, faster and smarter, others could be a walking corpse that is barely "alive". The ability to build a barricade, though of course this could eventually be destroyed if not held together well or if it was unmaintained (or if the obvious overwhelming hoard of zombies breaks through). Inventory with items: Mini (or full sized, totally up to you) crowbar, used for prying doors open, smashing windows, breaking things in general or killing zombies, of course. It's primary use wouldn't be a weapon, but I would like most objects to have that option. Different kinds of armor/clothes for different areas of your body: flak jacket, bullet proof vest, different types of pants, shirts (long sleeve, heavy/thin, short sleeve, etc.), knee & elbow pads, different types of head gear (helments, ski mask, bandanna, etc.), several types of bags (from belt pouches to backpacks) and ammo slings as well as glove options. Depending on what you had and where you put it, you could hold more ammo, guns or other things...but you would have to have a good balance since one person can only hold so much. This is probably needless to say, but I would want each of the armor items to have a graphic so people could have a unique look to them. All the gear could be mixed and matched to your liking, it would all have weights and qualities that would affect your character, depending on how much protection an area of your body has (how well it's covered), a zombie would have a harder time hurting & infecting you. So that thick long sleeve shirt would give you a better chance over a thin short sleeved one if a zombie came clawing at your arm. As for the gear affecting your character, say you could have really good protection, like a walking tank..but be slower, less mobile and tire out easier. There would be several real life elements involved. The ability to hit zombies with your gun, even if there's no ammo, as well as being able to kick (used for killing/pushing zombies, and breaking things like doors). You could find gear in different places, an abandoned store or off a corpse maybe. The majority of your gear (armor, items and weapons) would be things that could actually be found or made by every day people. Military grade things would be uncommon, but not totally available. So instead of having some guy in heavy full body armor with a mini gun and 3 other big weapons, you would have a guy with a shotgun and pistol looted from wal-mart or a pawn shop, dressed in makeshift armor, like work gloves, BDUs, bullet proof vest, paint ball helmet and other things he's managed to gather. I know this is asking for WAY too much, but I can dream ![]() Brainbread is wonderful, but having to actually work for gear that affects how well you can survive would be pretty cool. Wow, all the options in the poll can be done in HL1.
I'd totally revamp the zombies. Make them more like bots than monsters, if you know what I mean. |

Who the heck voted for 'more levels'? More levels can be made, it's not one of the many things that will go over the Hl1 limits. If you want more levels, just make some yourself.
