I'd like to be able to set up a nice gradual experience rate, but the system confuses me.
It seems like I might be on to something, then all of a sudden killing a zombie rewards me 40 points, and then my skills are maxed out at strange values, and everyones jumping around with power weapons willie-nilly ![]() So if anyone could explain how to get the most out of the experience values, it'd be appreciated ![]() |

Well...
You get exp not by killing zombies, but hitting them. That means everyone gets exp from fred, instead of one getting a mahoosive ammount. The points can be given into 3 "values": skill, speed and hp. hp gives you a percentage bonus to your health, +8hp. Skill increases your damage, and is needed for the Stoner, Minigun and Gascan. The damage increas is about 7%. Speed increases your walk\run speed, 5% increase. After level 23 the points no longer have effect. You can put 30000000 points there, but no more percentage bonus. The 40 points thingie can be related to starting a new round (am I correct?). Most servers save xp for 24 hours. That means, when a new round starts, your points seems to be gone. But after getting up one level, I usually receive all of them back. Clarified? (edited values, thanks mic) This post has been edited by Elite viking on August 08, 2005 04:12 pm |

The skill damage increase Is 7% Speed incerase 5% And 1 Hp point = +8 max Hp Straight from bb manual. For the 23 level max... If we set maxlevel on 99, having 99 points in speed does make us go 495% faster ? This post has been edited by Mic2070 on August 08, 2005 02:37 pm -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

Sorry, I should have clarified; I'm usually pretty good about going through manuals, so I understand how the basic upgrading goes - shoot zombies, get points, and distribute them to skills. I also gathered that you retain your points after round reset, its just not reflected until you shoot a zombie.
I meant the specifics of the internal experience handling in regards to the server experience variables (sv_expperlevel, sv_exppotence, and sv_maxlevel). I've looked into it a bit more, and here's what I seem to understand (correct me if I'm wrong): - sv_expperlevel is basically the red experience bar at the bottom of the screen; it takes this many experience points to fill the bar up, but only the first time because... - sv_exppotence is increasing this value every level you gain, gradually making it harder to achieve higher levels (naturally). - Every level you gain you get 1 stat point to distribute, meaning... - sv_maxlevel represents the number of stat points you will have when you are the stongest you can be. However, according to Elite viking, you don't stop gaining points from further levels, but the new points will have no effect. - Finally, using sv_maxlevel, you can estimate how strong characters can become by multiplying estimated stat distributions by the values Mic2070 listed from the manual. So I'm guessing 23 was just a nice number to stop at before characters became to powerful..? I still don't understand why we were at level 90 last night, with 300 points to distribute, and our skills arbitrarily "maxing out" in the 40 - 60 range. Anyway, tell me if I've misunderstood anything - or thanks for the help ![]() |

Ah good. The first part is right. But for the 300 skill points... My theory is a very low (negative?) value for sv_expperlevel and/or Sv_exppotence Thus killing a zombie making you gain 300 levels, and the level counter fucking up. Or maybe a hack ? xD Edit : Okay, Tested a server with
Results : One shot on a zombie got me 100+ levels. After 255 (I think) level reset to 0, but skill points are still there (Unloading a M16 clip on zombies made my level go 125..200..13...160...50...etc). If there are too many skill points the skill point counter reads "0" I also saw max values for each skill (Approx.) : Skill = 44 Speed ~30 Hp~25 This post has been edited by Mic2070 on August 08, 2005 09:37 pm -------------------- ![]() ![]() |

this isnt exactly true, ive tested it, once i putthe so called max limit on my hp, that sat me at around 225hp, i tried it again with about 50 points on hp, it said i had 225hp but the counter didnt start counting down until 5mins of brutal bashing by fred, and about 20 other zombies, as a parameter i did not evade them or fight back. -------------------- ![]() "and from that day forth, anytime a bunch of animals are found together in one place it's called a ZOO!...
