Hey guys, awesome game!!!

Anyways, I would like to start a server for BB, but my sister (unfortunatly) is going to get our old pc. Thatīs p4 2ghz, 256mb ram.

So I got this older pc; p3 500mhz 128mb ram. Now I get the feeling this is too bad for a BB server aint it? Just need confirmation because itīs christmas soon you know and then I could wish for a router (5Mbit server) smile.gif

Damnit why she gotta have that pc... huh.gif wink.gif

This mod is the best one Iīve ever played biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

C yall

//Crille_swe

edit* I have realized that with only 128mb ram... STEAM is going to eat that up all by itself... So hmm do you think the processor is good enough with 128mb more ram?

The reason I want to start a server is because yesterday all three european good-ping server were running the carnage map... I mean no one has the full map-cycle, wich is really bad wink.gif

You can host a dedicated server ~ 10-12 people. You need to try...
Download the dedicated Server Tool with steam and use google or try here: http://www.hlds101.com/hlds101/index.htm

If you start a dedic. server with the dedic. server tool it dont need so mutch ressources.

I run the "Blutwurst" Server and i also dont run the "full" mapcycle couse some maps are really "shit".

Ya? sweet, I like the Blutwurst server smile.gif

Aha thanks didnīt think about only downloading the tool. It would be sweet to have a BrainBread server for about 5 people, I think 12 is way too much for best possible fun, but thatīs just me wink.gif

Iīll get a router and test it out. Thanks for the reply by the way.

Owning a better router doesn't mean a faster internet connection...
Your internethoster set max up/down limits.

If you have enough money you can rent a dedicated server from some hosting company. > Google is your friend.

I have a cable coming from the wall and directly into the pc. So with a router (I donīt have one now) I could assign the server 5Mbit and 5Mbit to my own pc (at least thatīs what they say). So the internet is not a problem but the server specs are smile.gif

Iīve always wanted to have one of my one pcīs as a gameserver and not interested in renting one. If the old P3 is too slow for BB maybe Iīll buy a cheap P4 pc smile.gif

By the way, how long is Blutwurst going to have a server in BrainBread? Just curious happy.gif

How stable is the server? Does it ever crash?

It works with 4 player slots! I asked them through server console and with 4 players there was no lag at all! Iīm impressed by the old pc smile.gif

I wonder how many more slots it can take, Iīll try tomorrow. smile.gif smile.gif

Hadn't seen your last question.
It isn't very stable. BB loves to crash often.

little info: You need 5 kb/s upstream for every Player.
Check your ram/cpu usage while running a server with the taskmanager (str+alt+enf).

Ya BB isnīt that stable is it, I had to remove biodome from cycle when testing the server because I get Ed_Alloc on whatever numbers I use in the server.cfg wink.gif

I tried tonight with 8 players and when it was full they didnīt feel any lag at all, even though in the statistics window it showed the cpu and fps going really crazy...

So it looks like it can take on a hl mod pretty good smile.gif

I am getting a router (so I can play on the server myself lol tongue.gif ) and also a new harddrive like a Seagate Baracuda IDE, because the old one in my pc is too loud.

Let me know if you run into some commands that help stable a BB server. Thx Edgar blubbern.gif blink.gif

Iīm not familiar with amx at all, but itīs pretty much like adminmod isnīt it? By the way do you run Biodome on the server? I canīt run it because of Ed_Alloc error, nomatter what numbers I set them to. All other maps work good though smile.gif

I have tested the server for maybe 20 hours and it works good, even though sometimes it says the cpu is working at 100% it doesnīt seem to be affecting the players in a bad way.

I hope that in a month when I get the router that BrainBread still is popular happy.gif

yey, i think amx(x) is like adminmod.
and jes, i run biodome on the server. it's also crashing sometimes, maybe i just have luck smile.gif
anyway, try in your serverconfigfile (server/listenserver.cfg):

decalfrequency 1

decals like blood will be automaticly removed after 1 secound. < maybe the reason your server is crashing on biodome.
if you set it to 0 secounds they will never get removed untill mapchange.

good luck,
Edgar

Ahh I will try that out. biggrin.gif Biodome is really sweet. Have you seen the Public-Enemy model of it? Looks really cool, maybe they should implement the blur-effect into BrainBread happy.gif . Like in that other mod where you could choose to turn it off or on ("science and industry" or something like that).
