Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo there.

Yes, lately ive been asking way too many questions... im sorry.
Its just that im that curious.
I guess this'll be not too hard to answer.

MY main gaming comp is teh sux, it gets laggy when theres a bunch of zombies on the screen.
And i really just cant play HL2 for it.

do you guys know any brands that can play HL2 without lag??? biggrin.gif
I managed to finish this game with a very slow comp...
and I didnt enjoy it that much sad.gif

pffft bran. Build your own! 'Tisn't that difficult.

How much are you looking to spend on your 1337 gaming rig?

--------------------
This is what Ive said for the past couple months every time has requested source: BB source is highly unlikely because the mod team (Ironoak) has decided to use the crystal engine to create an rpg, although they have said there is a small chance of going to source but please, for the sake of all mankind, do not request a port and/or create polls, or even useless threads about the porting of BB, because it is most likely not going to happen, thank you for reading.

No matter how your pc is doing it can always benefit from some RAM. 1 gigabyte in total is more than enough, but remember to buy the same type as the one you have to begin with (VGA ram for an example).

If you want a good gaming computer, mostly aim for a 1337 graphics card and lots of RAM. They both need each other equally mind you.

To put that simply:

Good card + Enough RAM = Nice

Fair card + Lots of RAM = Not so nice

Best card + Low amount of RAM = Horrible

(VGA ram for an example).

What the hell ? Vga ram ? I know sd and ddr rams but... vga ?

For me vga means "Video Graphics Array" ^^

Here : Download everest
It'll show your computer specs.

And, for the 1337 graphics card, you don't need a 7800 GTX or something like that.

You can play Hl² smoothly with a gen 5 Geforce, which are less than 100$ now I think. (Sorry I'm a nvidia fanboy, don't know Ati graphics well)
For the ram, 512 is the minimal amount to play with a good framerate.

Oh and :

If he knows absolutely nothing about computers, he'll burn some cpus and mobos before actually building a working comp.
I suggest you ask people who knows computers well for pieces, and have it built by a trained specialist ^^, but don't buy a brand computer like dell or something like that.
Ask google for some info too.

Now post your computer specs !

@Mic: I'm not too good at this, I thought there was something called vga ram, but sd and ddr sounds more right. I think I have ddr.

I think he should start with the Geforce 6 series because those can play every game thats out right now. Geforce 5 cards are worth like $50, but don't start low. If you can afford it, get a 6800. Make sure you have a whole gig of RAM (1024mb) to go with it.

If you really can't afford high end card, at the VERY LEAST get a Geforce 5500. You'll still get things like pixel shading, just not top notch. You won't be able to run games like BF2 and F.E.A.R though.

you could get a 5800 much better than 550, which i used to have. I think 5 series have come down considerabaly like 20-40. I saw a 7300 i think for about 30 quid once tongue.gif.

Then you'll be able to run F.E.A.R and BF2 with a 5800. Has it really gone down that much? Wait, no wonder, I was looking at the AGP cards...
