Welcome stone the crows!

biggrin.gif
Good to be here. Singed up as soon as I got word BB:S was moving along. IMO BB is one great mod(though having some flaws) and with some thorough development into making a second verson with updated graphics/physics on the CS:S engine this could be a huge hit.
It is using CS:S isn't it? huh.gif
Regardless I wouldn't mind being a part of betatesting this.

To iliketoblowzombieheadsoff:
All I suggest is a DIY on your system. It's not that hard. No need to buy an entire new PC. Only buy a good motherboard with a good CPU, an ATI 9600+ and at least 1gig RAM(BTW you upgrade RAM by adding new sticks of memory). If you look hard enough on eBay you could get all that really cheap.

Its built on the source engine, cs:s means Counter strike source which means it is also built upon the source engine.

No.

Memory = Harddrive (different types of memory obviously, but the type you're referign to is your harddrive).

Ram = random-access memory: the most common computer memory which can be used by programs to perform necessary tasks while the computer is on; an integrated circuit memory chip allows information to be stored or accessed in any order and all storage locations are equally accessible

CPU = Stands for Central Processing Unit, a programmable logic device that performs all the instruction, logic, and mathematical processing in a computer.

CPU Has nothing to do with your harddrive and will not affect your stored information on your hard disk drive.

This is what Ive said for the past couple months every time has requested source: BB source is highly unlikely because the mod team (Ironoak) has decided to use the crystal engine to create an rpg, although they have said there is a small chance of going to source but please, for the sake of all mankind, do not request a port and/or create polls, or even useless threads about the porting of BB, because it is most likely not going to happen, thank you for reading.

What he said. If you need to upgrade your RAM, you need to buy RAM sticks. RAM is one of the cheapest upgrades you can get for your computer. 512 mb sticks go around for $40 now.

Tell us, how much RAM do you have?

I upgraded my computer a while back. Two 512MB RAM sticks for $62 each! I also got a new video card that makes Half-Life 2 look awesome..er.. than it was before.

256MB isn't recommended for Half-Life 2, it kept crashing and freezing for me. If you have 512MB that's alright, just put your graphic settings on 'low' and the game should run fine.

OK iliketoblowzombiesheadsoff, firstly you need to learn how a computer works. Go learn how a computer works now. Secondly, you have to learn how to build a computer. So, go learn how to build a computer (use google or pc-literate friends).
(btw Memory ISN'T your hard drive, and simply buying a new cpu won't erase your hard disk)

Now, you'll need money. Either you are a rich kid or you need a job. Try a paper round or something.

NOW you can get to the parts. My system is as follows:
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ @ 2.411 ghz (Socket 754)
Corsair value select 1024 MB DDR400 RAM
ATI Radeon 9600 PRO
160 GB S-ATA Hard Drive
ASUS K8N-E Deluxe mobo

17" CRT monitor
5.1 Surround Sound + Subwoofer
Logitech Optical mouse
Logitech Media keyboard (awesome for gaming)
2 x 400 GB Removable Hard Drives

Bearing in mind I built this system in January 2005 and it cost me GB £710, and it can run Half-Life 2 at full settings at a push (27 fps stress-test)

CPU: DONT get Intel. Although an Intel can out perform AMD in number crunching, AMD far outruns its Intel counter part. My 2.411 GHZ AMD is about equal to a 3.8 ghz Pentium for games, but a 2.4ghz Pentium may render films quicker than my little box. AMD Athlon 754 sockets are solid performers.

RAM: Get no less than DDR400 (pc32000 i think), but dont get the glitzy $100 stuff. 1 GB of my corsair value RAM is sensible, as it is cheap as chips (GB £25 about) and performs admireably compared to other brands. Plus, you have a gigabyte of the stuff biggrin.gif

Motherboard: Be sensible - the motherboard has to be matched to the processor type. e.g, i wouldn't go and buy, say, a *#* socket Intel, as my mobo is for 754 socket AMD ONLY)

Hard Drive: Doesnt really matter - 40gb is fine, unless you want a lot of games or films on there (especially 54gb Hi-def films!!!)

Graphics card: This is one of the biggies. Although I believe Half-Life 2 is optimized for ATI, in my experience Nvidia out perform Ati in price, power, and RELIABILITY!! I've never had so many cards that gave me grief as ATI. Nvidia 6600 is a decent AGP card. For the newer PCI-Express cards such as 7900 GTX, you'll, obviously need a PCI-Express Motherboard

Mouse: Go for Logitech - Best mice i have ever used.

Keyboard: Again Logitech, they are simply the peripheral king.

Monitor: Unless you have bags of cash, go the the cheapy 17" CRT, or TFT (flat screen) BEWARE! Some older TFTs have slow response times, which means the time it take for the image to be sent from the port on the back of the pc to it apearing on the screen. This can cost you points and kills in games.

Well I hope this has been helpful; Please excuse me if I have sounded too snobbish, but I believe I know what I'm doing when it comes to budget performance systems biggrin.gif
