Ok i have been trying to get Brainbread working for some time now and finaly found the forums i need some help...
Problem : In game when i face a certain way(Im Sure Its When I face Bodies) i get a very bad un-playable lag... if i turn around or look at the floor the lag stops was wondering how to sort this... P.s reinstalling does not change it i have tried and changing from 32bit to 16bit and from opengl to software does not work. And someone told me it could be due to frame rate but it only happens when i face a certain way... the lag takes me from around 20-40 ping to about 300-500 so makes the game un-playable.

Errr extra info Intel extreme graphics , 512mb ram 80gb hd 2.8ghz 1mb internet...

It's that video card!
With that computer I suggest you upgrade to a geforce 7600 or higher, but an intel extreme graphics card, even though its integrated and it as far as I know isnt that great, should still be able to run hl1. This post has been edited by bacon333 on September 16, 2006 01:29 am |

He doesn't need a friggin Geforce 7600. He's not trying to play Half Life 2 here. If you get a Geforce 4 MX card, you'll do just fine. Also, use OpenGL. Direct3D sucks butt for Half Life 1. |

Oh, I was talking to him in brain bread (Either that or someone else) and he said He might play bbs with it. 7600 isnt too pricey, and it will go good with his rig.

Ok I know intel extreme graphics isnt supported by hl1 or brainbread but i now know it is very simmilar to Nvidia which is supported to everyy steam ame there is. i cannot play in Opengl mode becauause im using direct x 9.0c and it lags me for some reason but i still get some lag in D3D mode i just want to know how to fix this my graphics card is fine for half life 1 based games im not changing it i just want to know can my problem be fixed...

For now, if you put your graphics on software mode, it will look pixelated but shouldnt lag. anyway yeah, if you want a quick and yet good enough sollution for playing hl1 games, geforce mx 4000 is the way to go. |

Bacon333 i will try bb on software mode , isnt is strange i have counter strike, half life 1 and natural selection and i only have this issue with brainbread i think bb is an amazing game just will not work properly please someone give me a reason for this issue !...

If there are like 1000 zombies on a map the chances are it will lag, but still, try out software mode. Anyhow, other than that I cant really give a reason. Well, try out software mode and tell me what happens, we should be getting to the problem soon... I hope. bacon333 |

software mode worked on a map but still some lag on others plus when the map changed to sincity it wont let me join and it exits my bb as soon as the loading bar reaches the top to join the server... i cant get on that server now ...

i recently have restored my computer back to factory condition so no need for a de-frag at the moment + even before this restore i still had the lag issue on bb...

just noticed i have to change from "software" to opengl or D3D again because i cannot connect to a server in software mode it stops and crashes at loading screen ...

It's probably the fact about there being so many zombies, so having onboard graphics takes ram memory (as it cant supply its own like dedicated graphic cards) therefore it MIGHT be the ram. (the zombies, the video, etc.)
