What keeps zombies from attacking other zombies? if they have meat on them then whats keeping other zombies from trying to rip off that meat and eating it?

lol how the hell do zombies have thermal vision? that makes no sense... looking for better explanation...

The rule of thumb for most zombies, be it viral, parasitic, voodoo or wierd mystic electromagnetic waves from space (that was Night of the Living Dead before you ask) is that the urge to devour the flesh of the living derives from the body decaying.

Depending on who you talk to the brain (whatevers left of it) or the virus/parasite knows that the body is rotting and will eventually rott away completely. So it is attempting to replace the rotting flesh with fresh bio matter, through the only means at its disposal, the human digestive system.

To further complicate matters the digestive system of most zombies doesnt actualy work, as its just as dead as the rest of it. However when you're a flesh eating, zombifying virus with a limit understanding of the human body, post mortis, you can't expect rocket science or indeed brain surgery.

The reason that other zombies don't don't get eaten to fuck is simply that they've got too much dead flesh on them and its doesn't supply the needs of the zombie corpse. Whats needed is warm, fresh, quivering, hunks of meat, torn off the very living bones of any happless sod that happens to wander into the path of such a horde.

read between the lines of any of the first 3 (original) George A. Romero zombie films (they are the only films to concern yourself with, all other suck*) Also i used to date a girl who worked in the pathology dept. of the university i was at, she clued me into some stuff <--- this is not true but its a better explanation than, i once sat around at uni watching 8 zombie movies back to back, smoked a shit load then at 4am tried to rationise everything with my equaly stoned mate Andrew.

*clarification: Not all other zombie movies suck, 28 days laters is fucking awesome, and the new version of dawn of the dead (while not as good as the first) is still a solid take on the old version. Sean of the Dead is awesome i don't give a fuck what any one else says, fuck em.

That being said most of the others are crap. With the possible exception of the one where the hospital send an ambulance out to pick up some victims and then about an hour later they get a message from the ambulance crew "seeennnd more braaaaiiiinnnsss" in a traditional gravely zombie esc voice, that was a laugh. Name of the film anyone?

what happens is that when the creature comes back to life the impulses the eyes send to the brain get distorted and mutate and the zombies gain thermal vision

i would agree with you, but it is physically impossible for that to happen, humans just don't have the cone, or nubbin receptors on the retina to be able to sense those kind of infra red frequencies, theyre not just outside our range.

If you mean the virus mutates the retina and you gain infra-red cones and nubins (nubins aint the right word for the other sensor on the retina but i cannot forthe fucking life of me rememeber what it is) then technically we aint talking zombies, we're talking mutants, sorta.

It's kind of a grey area and depending on who you talk to you'll get a different answer. Personally being a DnDer i'll take that answer as just as correct as any other.

i like your answer lundquist it makes more sense. plus it sounds smart and scientific and you use big words i dont understand so im just going to nod and pretend i know what your talking about...

so anyone else got any ideas?
