Man... that crazy suicide.... can anyone summarize it to me please?
All I know is that he did this since he was sentenced in jail... but.. I'm a bit too lazy to find it out. Just some background info will do, if anyone wishes to share. Well actually if you shoot yourself through the spine, the bullet could ricochet through your body and miss the spinal chord and brain. If the bullet has enough energy to get through the spine then you may as well shoot yourself in the head I guess...

Why bother going through the spine? A bullet through the brain will instantly kill, as long as it hits. But actually, there's a chance the bullet willl richochet off the skull.
The best way to go is probably jumping from somewhere high. Just imagine the fun you can have on the way down  |

Imagine the mess and clearup  I think if your fired a gun that is pressed perpendicular to your skull, it's very very very very likely you will die instantly. Especially with a bigger gun I suppose. -------------------- |

He was gonna be sentenced to a long time in jail - maximum sentence was 55 years I believe - for allegedly receiving a $300,000 dollar kickback while in office. Despite his claims that he was innocent, he was still being sentenced, but he was able to hold his office as treasurer until the day of his sentencing. So he called a press conference, gave a speech, handed out some papers, took a .357 magnum revolver from a brown envelope, put it in his mouth, and shot himself. A theory is that he did it so his family would get the full survivor's benefits - $1.28 million - as he was still in office when he shot himself, as the legal defense costs were astronomical. I was told that a .22 pistol would be ideal, as the bullet would pretty much bounce around inside the skull and brain, since it wouldn't create an exit wound. --------------------  (1) I like to beat women. They were wrong. The Finnish guy who went on a shooting spree at his school in Finland shot himself in the head with a .22 pistol. He died quite a long time later in hospital, because the small calibre of the bullet wasn't enough to kill him, and the police didn't enter the building until a few hours later. -------------------- |

Shooting your spine is a waste, just aim for the head. Swallow your gun of put it to your temple.
