dont get me wrong its important to know self defense but i promise you i could kill any martial arts master if i had with a 9mm. and give me a knive ill show you how well those hands stick to your arms

thats why i would use a .357 magnum no jamming and also good for hand to hand (i have been hit with a mag handle not fun)

and if your going to rob someone what you should do is threaten them with the gun just to get up close then taser them... i got tasered once holy freakin crap its horrible... and yeah getting hit with a .357 magnum it might as well be a freakin medieval mace

Im in the Marine Corps. Im a black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do (I was required to take some sort of martial arts class to join the marines and liked it so i stuck with it to black.) I have experience with all kinds of pistols, shotguns and rifles.
I have used a bunker buster twice, and I can get a headshot from about 800 feet away with a steady sniper. I have a purple heart for being injured in battle (no not the thing my brother posted about me being stuck in the little base thing) I have experienced many cases in which i have been disarmed and killed my enemies with my fists. I went to Iraq for about 6 months at one point which is where about 80 percent of my combat experience is, the other 20 percent is petty school yard fights, bar fights, sparring in tae kwon do and fights at the base. if all thats true than god bless you but i just straight dont believe youve ever been anywhere near Iraq... especially since you said that you had to use close combat several times and in modern war close combat is actually very rare... also no man that has ever truly been to war brags about it... war is horrible that way...

I wasnt bragging, in fact it was the hardest thing in my life. Although I do like the M.R.Es but i had to use it to disarm them when they got close or noticed me sneaking behind them to another point i nwhich to complete an order or orders

Well, this is my view...
I would not stand a chance against a guy with a gun if he was, say anything between 6 feet and 100 yards + No way. I'm no Neo. within around 6 feet, I think I stand a pretty good chance of disarming the average joe with a pistol if I really had to - with a rifle it's much easier and safer. Not highly trained personnel though - I expect they have counters to such moves, like stepping back  In a one to one fist fight, I'm also pretty confident I can at least disable my opponent long enough to get away (leg power  ) But I would NEVER EVER take anybody on with a knife. never. Swords, guns, bats fine, but never a knife. They are such fast weapons, just like pistols, an untrained drunk can cut you up unbelievably fast.Thankfully, where I live there are just retired couples and young kids and no crime But if I had to, I could defend me or my family without weapons.*edit* Oh and martial arts isn't "bullshit." That's just plain wrong. SOME methods are teaching are rubbish, but even Taekwondo Patterns (basically dances) have a point and help with other areas of the technique, such as balance. Without Taekwondo or Ninjitsu, I would not be anywhere near as fit or strong as I am now and still be getting bullied at school This post has been edited by SDWBOSS on September 09, 2007 11:36 am --------------------  |

I only did the martial arts I've learned recently. Before then I could still kick some arse - although that was in a school setting, I doubt I would have lasted long in a proper street fight back then.
You'd have to be an idiot to take someone on with a weapon when you're unarmed - either that, or someone properly trained to take on someone who is armed when you lack a weapon. Something I was taught when I was still learning martial arts - if someone's coming at you with a knife, you don't piss about trying to disarm them, you run away. Not the bravest of options, but I have no intention of being cut up by some prick with a knife. Plus I like my clothes without holes or bloodstains. --------------------  |
