QUOTE (Luciel @ October 08, 2007 11:45 am)
ok let me explain it.

Alpha: Stage where the game is somewhat playable, full of bugs, crushes, etc, you could amost call it the stage where stuff has been implemented to actually create on game the concept of such.

Closed Beta: This is the stage where most major bugs (the ones that make the game unplayable for x reasons) have been fixed, a decent percentage of the game content has been introduced, and all in all, itīs ready for an x ammount of people to test it and help the dev team find more bugs (mainly those that arenīt so obvious), but itīs not ready for the public eye.

Open Beta: The game is pretty much cleaned out of most bugs, itīs playable and so on, but itīs not quite finished for a release candidate, so an open beta with obviously a hell of a lot more people, meaning more chances of finding the hidden bugs, so the dev team can iron the final bits.

Release Candidate: The 1.0 Version that is released to everyone as an official released mod.

Good description. Let me further explain the betatester part of this as well.

Alpha: Open only to devs.

Closed Beta: I've rounded up a small group of 10 people not including myself to test this. Do not ask to be added on this list as it is final whether you like it or not.

Open Beta: By this time, I'll be accepting more people to join the group of betatesters (probably 5 to 10 more depending on how active the forums are). And NO you cannot harrass me to be added on a predetermined list. Ask me but once before an open beta is released and you'll never get to try BB:S early.

Release Candidate: Pretty self-explanitory.

If we really annoy you, will you ban us from the Release Candidate list too?

Well if I can only apply before the Open Beta is released, then this shall be my application; unless I must e-mail it:

I've beta tested many games in the past (Dark Messiah ; RYL ; World of Warcraft ; Everquest) and I always report all bugs, glitches, game crashes, and whatever else seems to be unwanted content in the game. I also try to include answers to the problems, if I am able to answer them, and I also give creative ideas and suggestions.

I am also a mod leader of four Warcraft III projects. So it shouldn't be too difficult relating myself with what you guys are doing. I'm a hardcore gamer, I'll admit that and I can draw well too. So hopefully this helps my application.

Not according to Luciel's description. I'm going off that.

the whole point of an open beta in actual definition is to allow the community en masse to test the game

Sorry to break your convo. But Hammer isn't that hard to use =o. Let alone the source one. You get Hammer free, as long as you have half life 1. And for the source engine, you get it for free, as long as you have half life 2.

Oh, and tutorials....

Craka_J, This is'nt Dark Messiah, RYL, World of Warcraft or Everquest. This game's harder than you think. Well, BB:S. I mean it probably is to all of us but the developers and those guys.

Betatesting is hard, and there is no way that you can get in a beta just by being nice. You have to put effort into this, not just goof around.

If i went through the ground, then the only thing i would be able to think of is that just a texture, not a part of the map.

If you do get in, though, dont say that a player zombie stuck in the vents is a bug. Why? To get in vents, you need to crouch. Zombies cannot crouch. Therefore, if they try to run away to a high building then they can get stuck in the middle of the vents.

Uhh, Ari, now im talking to you. I would quote you, but i can't find your post in the last 10 ones.

If anyone goes and argues about wanting to be on your closed beta list, tell me, ill spam their inbox with spam messages. tongue.gif just jokin. Unless you want me to.

Can we at least see your lists? Cause, Im only 9 years old, so i can't even probably beta-test unless im sent a file of it, which i know that doesnt happen, but yeah. So can we atleast see your list?

EDIT: What do you mean by "Ask me but once before open beta is released and you'll never get to try BB:S early"?
