I'm a little late but Between the Buried and Me finally released their new album, "The Great Misdirect" after a loooooooooong time since Colors. I have to say, I've found a new appreciation for them and they sound as great as ever!!!!

I've been listening a lot, as in A LOT, to a metal band called Insomnium lately. What's odd is that instrumentally, they are very melodic. Some of the tracks are among the most harmonic I've ever heard. Of course they have heavy sections as well, but the melodies are what I like the most. But the guy on vocals? I'm not really sure if his voice goes up/down at all. He's just growling in the background, sounding like something out of the bowels of hell.
Awesomeness. Also I've listened a very little bit to the new Avenged Sevenfold tracks, the ones made in cooperation with Mike Portnoy (incidentally the drummer in my favorite band Dream Theater), replacing the late A7x drummer. |

From your description of Insomnium, they sound a lot like Between the Buried and Me. As I'm listening now, they aren't the same... but they are actually cool. They are less less heavy than BtBaM. BtBaM vocalist growls a lot too, but the dude can change his voice and he can sing pretty well. I also keep reading in their vid comments that they are like Dream Theater, only more hardcore.
