So, I was downloading skins from FPSBANANA when McAfee detected numerous trojan attacks and deleted it. Yeah, I got infected by a virus. I think it's still here.

It shows lots of problems right now:

-Can't see my wallpaper
-Can't see simple graphics, like the emoticons and such
-Can't see the Ironoak Forums sign up top!
-Can't change my desktop. When I right click on the screen and pick display properties, there's only 1 tab, Screen Saver.
-Can't see pictures online(offline is fine).

Pretty much my graphics are messed up. I need some help, I really don't know what to do.

edit:
Yeah I found the problem, the damned viruses caused so much registry errors that I have to regain them all. I can't even access wallpapers or change HUD appearance now. Crap... and I can't edit registry stuff.

1. get an antivirus that does not suck ass.
2. boot your pc in safe mode and run a virus scan. If the scan comes up with anything, have crapafee delete the virus's. **
3. reboot your pc and repeat step 2.
4. restart your pc and load normally. Perform a virus scan in normal login. Delete any viruses you find.
5. use alt+ctrl+del to find any system processes that look suspicious and look them up. Use the windows boot manager to deselect them, and then restart your pc.
6. download hijackthis and scan your pc. Post your problem on an internet help site along with the HJT log. Another user that has had a similar problem may be able to help you, as the steps I am giving you are pretty much just general solutions to clean your system.

**Alternatively, if you have the disk for crapafee and it let's you run that as a boot device to scan your system, I would recommend doing that.

That usually can fix most virus infestations. Also, while doing these scans disable your inbound internet connection. I got this problem once and had to do all that + delete certain registry keys to get it fixed.

I may use McAfee to scan it instead, or else AVG. Depends on my time. Thanks Mallic, even though these are simple, it woke me up on doing stuff like this.

Other problems with the stupid virus:
-Constant pop-up advertising a virus-scanner, always mentioning IEmonster.
-My wallpaper is black.
-Keeps disabling the graphics in a website(i.e. the emoticons on this website).

That's it so far, going to virus-scan this shit.

It never vanished, even though I tracked the file's origin. It's hidden somewhere.

Wow, today I went into safe mode, used Hijackthis a lot, and used CCleaner to remove the annoying start-up shits. Amazing, no more pop-ups. All I'm going through now are the messed up registry errors and bits of the virus. Seems to be working great. Thanks again Hunter for the CCleaner, it's been so helpful all this time. Thanks mallic for the help too. tongue.gif

you can find which registry entries are bad and delete them with regedit
