I have a few questions and comments. Don't chop off my head if any of this has been mentioned before, I did actually browse the forum before writing this and the F.A.Q. doesn't cover many subjects.

What is the meaning of the name Public Enemy? I thought that it was a popular term for a mere street hoodlum or criminals in general, either way I don't see the connection with the world that you have described. The corporations may not be working for the people but I don't think that it would be accurate to call them enemies of the people when describing the world in a somewhat unbiased fashion.

Is it right to call the workers of the security corporation policemen? I would guess that the "police" still is synonymous with the government even in cyberpunk worlds where the government's power is minimal. "Security" or "watchman" would probably be better names for the corporation troops.

There's not a whole lot difference in appearance for the two teams as they both have shades of greyish which makes room for accidents. I therefore don't think that it would hurt if they were more different and steered away from the traditional black. The security troops could have a dark red uniform which still would fit the neo-Asian setting and the current aesthetics of the maps.

Is the game aimed to be strategical semi-realism or more action related? The reason why I ask is because currently there doesn't seem to be any significant decrease in accuracy when running or jumping and akimbo weapons doesn't fit in much more than unrealistic action flicks. Also how does the "gangsta" style fit the setting? Is it something Harrison Ford could have used and asked "Yo, Do you dream of electric sheep?.

allready we have what some call cops for hire...

baislcy thats the the security corporation is, they are a corporation that have specialised in security. be that private property or hired as cops by a local goverment...

blue on blue shootings is normal, atleast when you are in a scenario that ask for "shoot frist, dont bother with the questions" tactics...

while the security team can be said to be the up front face of a corporation of goverment the scyndicate can be the dark underbelly. people hired to do stuff that can be denied if captured...

Sorry for my short answer (out of time). At first i have to "say" that our story has been written in german, which fits much better. I didn´t translate the storytext, but i´ve to agree that the translation of the text hasn´t the same intention and content as my original german story.

lol; btw lots of the points you mentioned have been discussed in the inner forum. (For example) The syndicate will (if we´ll have the time and motivation) be covered in a red suit/uniform (whatever) in the next big beta.

I´ve to leave you now. Sorry for that. ^^ (I´m really busy at the moment wink.gif)

I'm aware that there's a development towards more corporate power as the government cuts back on the funds for the police force and private security is hired when necessary which could leave the people in the hands of corporations. But the hired security are called "watchmen" and not "policemen" in Sweden at least and I would guess that word "police" is something that people always will connect with the government.

The syndicate will (if we´ll have the time and motivation) be covered in a red suit/uniform (whatever) in the next big beta.

It was the security I wanted to have red uniforms but it still sounds jolly good that it might be easier to tell a friend from a foe.
I might make simple colour alterations on the security myself and I hope that most wouldn't consider it cheating as I in addition might give the syndicate darker hues.

hey wolhay, think of it this way:

what would the goverment call the watchmen if they hired the firm that they work for to act like police? i would swear that both the public and the goverment would be refering to them like they where police. the reason that you use some other name these days is that your watchmen have some restrictions on what they can do in comparison to the police. they may be able to hold someone until the police can pick them up but they can not arrest someone right of the street for something...

I doubt that private security would be called police but I admit that it's possible and I don't think that there's any connection with the state in the actual meaning of the word.

I had hoped for a few more answers, especially whether the name "Public Enemy" was just pulled out of the wazoo or not.

P.S. I've made simple recolourations for the security for myself now which I'm somewhat satisfied even if it didn't make it a whole lot easier to tell them apart.
