Has anyone tried it? If you have, what are the good/bad things about it so far?

Itīs based on the vista look but itīs a whole new core, will run much more smoothly and a hell of a lot faster, tried it here, itīs like the XP to millenium, all this has happened before remember?

So, it has that type of Vista style but with XP capabilities? I mean, not so protective and all, like Vista... now that sounds very good. Hopefully it's like XP but more additives and stuffs.

So long if it doesn't eat up RAM and processor power like Vista, I'll go with it.

It will consume as much resources as vista, the difference is that it will be worthied and it will be very smooth, unlike vista.

That was a kick in the gonads. But I'll take it if it flows better.

Hey, they have a 64-bit beta of Windows 7! Very interesting. I might just try it out now just to see the full potential of 4 gigs of RAM. 32-bit windows is so limiting.

Aparentley Microsoft have released an offical Beta now. Just google "Windows 7 beta".

Advises you not to use it on your everyday computer (it's buggy).

I have new word on windows 7 from the mouth of my supplier (for those of you who donīt know i run a computer shop), and i quote "Due to the great beta response, it is very likely Windows 7 will ship closer to mid year than end of the year" unquote, so iīm guessing end of 2nd quarter to mid 3rd quarter.

Also, improvements have been made which lead to now "supposedly" W7 will use less system resources than Vista, specially ram, an example was given, Windows 7 will run with 2 gb of ram like vista did with 4, however they didnīt specify wether that meant DDR2 or 3 ram, and believe me, it makes a big difference.

Other improvements include a complete overhaul in connectivity, specially towards the latest N series wifi technology and mobile devices connectivity (instant pendrive, memory cards and mobile phone detection and browsing) which while not essencial, is always good. Another one will be, wait for it...

... TOUCHSCREEN, yes, touchscreen, who has a touchscreen at home?????? aniway... windows 7 should be 100% compatible and software-installation-free with touchscreens. Although it is said to be more oriented for laptops, so iīm guessing new laptops will be shipping with a touchscreen but i canīt help to wonder, wonīt that use a stupid ammount of battery energy? in my oppinion they should research new battery technologys, weīve been years with the same, hell iīve seen brand new high end laptops that only have 30-45min battery life...

Aniway figured i should post all this since we were on the subject.

Agreed, I think it won't be too great as Vista isn't that old. And alot of people won't invest in touch screen monitors for awhile. So if that feature is a big part of it, I can't see that beeing a big attraction for casual computer users.

Oh dear, it's 7am; I havn't slept and college in 1 hour sad.gif
