Here is my two cents,

Skill points

They stay at the level you set it to, not revert back to all zeros on map change, that way you would spend them a little wiser, since you couldn't just choose a different skill set the next map. I would think it would stay like that for however long the server is set to store your skill. I understand that may be more code than its worth, just my thought.

What if, I put a point into one attribute and wanted it in another?
What if, I distributed them wrong in the rush at spawn when zombies were pouring in?

They can't be fixed except by time, and that time would be far, far longer than a reconnect.

Not to mention it would disadvantage beginners who don't have a good distribution and were attempting to figure one out.

It would also increase the size of the players.lvl which would then slow down every getting their stats when they join in the first place.

The slow down of the scanning of the players.lvl wouldn't be that bad, it is slow anyway, plus an extra second or five wouldn't hurt as soon as it hits you, you get your levels back to where you set them. So in sense of the word it would actually maybe be slighlty faster than current.

I do understand it would be more code than probably worth the time.
Thats why you would set your levels when you have a calm moment, and if worse comes to worse, ask the server operater to delete you from the players.lvl and start over again from 0

And how many people would ask such a thing, and if so, how many admins are going to take the time to do such a thing.

Also, as for it taking a shorter time, with the commands Spin posted, you can easily set them just as fast if they were saved. And the time to load a player's level would be about 100% - 150% longer with this method (more if you have to account for unused points), which in some cases could translate into an extra 10-25 seconds if the server saves stats forever and has a large players.lvl file.

A key point of this, I think, is that doing this would kill the variety in the game, there are sometimes I want to be super fast with low health and damage, other times I feel like playing as a slow tank with high health and damage. Locking in those values would kill off a lot of replayablity.

I dont think its really worth it. I enjoy being able to respend my points because it means that when I'm on a map that I know theres a gastank I can bring skill up to 10, because I usually leave it at around 6 and spend everything on speed and hp (gotta watch out for the super-player-zombies).

i wanna post anyway and thats that
why not make an option for those people who want to set the their skill set back to its last known position? that was everyone wins because i have seen people who play way too much nad have over 100lvls and i have had over 20 on 1 server, its a pain

If only they could make an option to save a preference, or script somethign to assign points in a user-defined ratio .. clicking the button 100~ times every map change is annoying.

Spin posted console commands that you can bind and script in order to assign your skill points faster and more efficiently (and in certain ratios if you script them that way). The only one I recall with some degree of confidence in my memory is "hpup" and I think the other two are "spdup" and "dmgup" though I am not sure.
