Heavensgate riots worsen, martial law declared

The rioting in Heavensgate reported yesterday is still underway according to reporters located in the surrounding state of Georgia. National officials continue to withold information on the situation, continuing to state that it is "Well in hand" in spite of the reports of wide-spread property and personal damage from sources within the city, and worryingly all official contact with local administration has been severed, apparently due to "Military concerns".
In the last official correspondence between the national press and the local bureaucracy, we were informed that the city council and the state governor has declard martial law within both the city and the surrounding area, a follow up to the rumours circulating yesterday. Several detachments from the National guard were deployed amazingly rapidly last afternoon in a desperate attempt to restore order.
"The situation has gone beyond our ability to control; for the sake of public safety throughout the area we must deploy our armed forces to try and stem the horrific loss of life already reported." says Police Chief Brownston, from a secure hospital. "We urge all citizens to remain calm and avoid any areas with reports of activity. Make no attempt to reach loved ones, you only run the danger of being swamped by these madmen, and you will only add to the chaos." Chief Brownston was injured yesterday in the initial attempts to quell the rioting.

The rioting appears to have increased in size and severity considerably; according to eye-witnesses it initially began when a group of what appeared to be injured people began randomly attacking passers by, but puzzlingly it appears that the number of attackers has swelled immensely since then. There have been reports that over a thousand people attacked a police station, overwhelming the officers stationed there quickly, in a disastrous mass attack on the barricades that were quickly erected. There has been no word on how many officers or staff survived the attack. The barricades around downtown were overwhelmed and the unrest has broken through into the rest of the city, and is spreading rapidly.


Riot police have been deployed

Shocking reports that the rioters have attacked people with fatal intent have been confirmed by a police source that must remain anonymous. Despite denials of this by official sources, we have been told that the rioters attempt to kill any person they encounter. Horrifyingly the reports of cannibalism have also been confirmed by this source, another shocking abnormality among the several insane rumours that have been reported by people within the city. Bafflingly the rioters do not turn on each other but instead attack only those who have yet to become involved, and there are claims that the victims of these attacks have recovered even from apparently fatal wounds to join forces with their attackers - something which has yet to be explained by any source. Other inexplicable reports about the lack of recovered bodies have yet to be confirmed, beyond wild claims by locals that the dead are rising and attacking the living - an explanation that is clearly impossible but worryingly goes a long way to explaining the events.

"It's horrible - I saw them rip someone apart." Ched Park, a reporter for the heavensgate post told us (The Heavensgate post building has been abandonded after a security guard was murdered in the lobby by one of the rioters.) "Then five seconds later he got up and joined the guys who were attacking him! Its insane!"

Hospitals in and around the city have been swamped by casualties and an unconfirmed illness which has swept the populace. "We can't handle it - theres just too many people coming in every hour, people caught up in this chaos and this damn bug thats going round." Dr Hanson, a resident at a local hospital informed us. "Nothing we do can stop it. We'd declare quarantine but it's too widespread."



Thousands of residents have fled the city in the last three days, initially because of the ongoing cannibal serial killers who plagued the city before the rioting, kiling over seven people and believed to be responsible for over a hundred missing persons. But since the start of the anarchy in downtown Heavensgate the number of people in exodus has swelled immeurably, with residents fleeing to any location they can. So far the situation in the city has forestalled any official attempt to regulate this evacuation.

No group has stepped forward to claim responsibilty for instigating these riots, and neither has the motive for this attack been made clear. This appears to be no political protest gone wrong but instead an insane act of anarchy, that has quickly grown out of hand. We will continue to cover the growing disaster in any later editions of this paper.
